Question My Friends Blackberry Messenger Is Different Then Mine?

Please Login to Remove!

My friend and I both have Bold’s and are running the same o.s and platform, but his blackberry messenger is different then mine in the chat window.

My messenger has the persons name in RED and followed by what ever they type and when I type it shows my name in BLUE… and when you send a message the normal check mark shows up with the D and R…the conversations are like that for all my contacts.*

On my friends messenger has the persons name in PURPLE and then what every they type and when I type it shows my name in BLUE… BUT when you send a message the check mark shows up and when the other person responds a YELLOW horizontal arrow shows up?

Does anybody know why?

Is there an option for different interfaces?**

Thanks

Purple usually indicates a broadcast, i.e. same message sent to more than one chat recipient.

You can change the way the chat screen looks by going to "Options > Group Messages In Conversation > Yes/No"

Putting Group Messages in Conversation to Yes will allow you to click links on the chat screen while the latter does not. It's an odd bug I believe.

Don't know. On my device BBM shows my name in blue, and my conversation partner's name in red. When I send a message, that message has a black check mark to the left of it with D or R above it to show the delivery/read status. When I receive a message, that message has a yellow arrowhead to the left of it pointing to the right.

I am a little confused by your description of what you are seeing. Does what I put above match what you see on either device?

You are correct. This is the primary cause for what the OP is seeing.

When I change from YES to NO under Group Messages in Conversation, the only thing that changes is the yellow arrow is missing and the text is listed in-line with the name. When YES, the yellow arrow is there and the text is listed below the name. The coloring remains the same, so I don't think this has anything to do with what the OP is seeing, or at least I wouldn't call it the "primary cause."
