I am using 221, I have no battery drain and no 3G issues and no call drops ...
I always upgraded using the do not backup option so I get a clean system. I then spend sometime configuring and reinstalling the custom apps. Never had any issue, even with my old 8800.

Revert back to this version after the newest version posted as it was suspect.

Default No "Compose SMS" option - 03-03-2009, 05:49 PM

I upgraded to 4.6.0.224 yesterday, then had to down grade to 4.6.0.221 after a number of issues with BES activation and restoring a backup on 224. However, now that I am running 221 I no longer have "Compose SMS" as an option in the messages app.

Has anyone else had this problem, or know why it might be doing this?

I can still compose an SMS if I click on an SMS that has already been sent to me, replay to it and change the "To" field.

it is in the app folder and is "hidden". go to app folder, click menu click show all.
then highlight the compose sms icon, click menu then click hide and it should "unhide" itself.

Thanks Midnightdraven,

However it's not the app icon that I can no longer see, it's the item in the menu within the app.

So once I open "SMS & MMS" (or even the "Messages" app), then press the menu button (blackberry symbol button) I actually don't have an option for "Compose SMS". I have the other ones, "Compose Email", "Compose PIN", "Compose MMS", "Instant Message", but no SMS.

ahh right.that is strange and something i cant answer.
only thing i can think is under BB system software in options->advanced->system software, there is a module that says net_rim_bb_sms
is that there? it might be that you need to reload the OS cause it missed out something.
it would appear that would be why its not showing.

have you tried a battery pull and it hasnt fixed it?

Hey, the 3rd battery pull worked. It has come back.

Now I just need to make sure I don't do a battery pull for a long time.

its often a build up of memory and pulling clears it, sometimes it just takes a few times to get it to do it.
glad its back!

I've been having problems lately(I think)... I've loaded the OS 4.6.0.221 on my Bold since it first came out. And just recent, I think it's randomly turning off on me. At least that's what I think. Cause sometimes I take my phone out of my front pocket, and it's already turned off! Now I always lock the phone before I put it in my pocket, and I know that holding the off button even when the phone's locked can still turn the phone off. And I don't keep anything else in the same pocket. Happened twice to me so far... And one time when I woke up finding out that it's off.

Just seeing if anyone else is experiencing the same problem. It has never done this to me until recently. Thanks!
