Default OS: 9000 4.6.0.373 / 4.6.0.221 (Multilanguage & East Asian) - 02-17-2009, 01:31 PM

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.6.0.373
(Contains English)
This OS will load to ANY carrier's 9000 model by following the instructions below.

Package Version: 4.6.0.373
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.6.0.221
* Software Platform: 4.0.0.186
* File name: 9000jEastAsia_PBr4.6.0_rel373_PL4.0.0.186_A4.6.0.2 21_Orange_UK.exe
* File size: 97.25MB

Download the English and East Asian language OS file here (from Orange UK):
https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...223C61B1B5AB89

Download the English and Multilanguage OS file here (from Orange France):
https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...A5DFF913DF997A

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

I have tried installing the new firmware on Vista x64, and I get .msi errors.

Anyone else have this problem?

Sorry just a novice .....if i want to download an English version to work on AT&T ...which file do I download.

Also, how do I activate without re-requesting enterprise activation from my IT dept.

Thanks!

I've installed it and it work's pretty much like my 190. Nothing bad to report so far but I've only been using .221 for about 6 hours so far

try to delete everything from
c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
and then re-install .221 and try again. Check to verify that the data has been populated in this directory and remove vendor .xml

Works just as well as .216. Works better than the later betas released, i.e. 224, 234 (no media bug, no wallpaper bug, no large font bug).

Yes, anytime you upgrade the device, a BES reactivation is required; unless you upgrade using a PC that is on the same network as the BES server and the Desktop Manager was installed using the BES option.

So far, this seems to be the most solid build I've experienced since .185...

I have been romancing the idea of loading the new .237 beta...but I think I'll stay put here until AT&T does an official release that includes visual voicemail. Then I'll be moved to update again...

Upgrade went without a hitch and handheld runs OK. moodio works well only via Wi-fi and not AT&T 3G (go figure).
No issues so far in two days and I hope it'll remain that way.
