Default OS: 9000 4.6.0.418 / 4.6.0.247 (Multilanguage) - 03-11-2009, 06:35 PM

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.6.0.418
Multilanguage; contains English
From simobile (Slovenia)
This will load to any carrier's 9000.

Package Version: 4.6.0.418
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.6.0.247
* Software Platform: 4.0.0.206
* File name: 9000M_PBr4.6.0_rel418_PL4.0.0.206_A4.6.0.247.ex e
* File size: 114MB

Download here: http://upload.simobil.si/9000M_PBr4....A4.6.0.247.exe

or: http://www.simobil.si/sl/inside.cp2?...linkid=article

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the AppLoader says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

Previous OS version here:

Thanks Bolin

That went from beta to official really quick. Still haven't really found out of it's better than 237?

What, not another official OS?
I just installed .244 two days ago. .244 is great so far - reasonable memory useage, reasonable battery usage, stable, good locking of 3g signals.
I believe that I have run every official OS upgrade since the original Roger's OS (.128?), but will probably take a pass on .247. I cannot imagine that it is a material upgrade from .224. Not worth the effort to get everything working as I like it after an OS upgrade.

Real quick from beta!! The latest current bata is .248.
Kind of wonder how much testing of .247 took place before it became official.

It went official from SiMobil from Slovenia. Are all official versions created equal? Somehow, I have a little more confidence if an OS goes official after testing by a major carrier located in a major country. (or maybe I am upset because I just upgraded to .244).

It is the same OS as the leaked beta, with just different vendor coding in the vendor.xml file.

3g signal is a little wacky on this for me...overall, pretty good OS though.

I installed new os and now I have an app for visual voice mail. Really cool but I have a bold running on TM. App says "provisioning is unsuccessful ...contact your service provider". Any suggestions on how to fix this????

Why are these two latest "official" releases not actually found on the RIM site? How official are they really?

Verizon hosts their own site as well and their 'official' OSs aren't listed on the RIM site. Neither does TMobile.

RIM doesn't host all carriers' OS files.

When installing this ROM, do you have to delete the vendor.xml file or is it COMPLETELY unbranded? Also, will MMS/MediaNet settings have to be configured or is it stored on the sim?

This is known issue with all releases from 219 (with the exception of 245 I think) on. You have to remove the VVM files from the java folder prior to installing the os. Do a search on for "remove visual voicemail" and you should find the answer (sorry I don't have sufficient posts to posts links).

I am on .244 with Rogers (two days)so am unlikely to upgrade to .247 so soon. .244 has been working well so far with good memory management, battery life and good 3g reception.
I am on bes and have been reactivated automatically. Instead of using the loader.exe file noted at the beginning of this thread, I have used desktop manager 4.6 on a computer on the same network as the bes.

I just use CrackMem prior to running apploader. The latest version (3.4) has a check box to delete the offending vmm file.

While I was happy with .244, I had to upgrade to something else in order to get rid of the .rem extension that was being added to EVERY single file I saved. For those not familiar with .244, .rem is supposed to only get added on to files when encryption is enabled for the SD card; but .244 was adding the extension on to every file even with encryption off.

No anomalies to report yet, I only upgraded to .247 last night.

Who said it was 'unbranded'? It is very definitely branded, from the offering carrier.

Follow the directions above.

Look at c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader

You are skipping the "common files".

Open the net_rim_bb_vvm.alx file and change from true to false and save it, then you can uncheck it during the loader.exe process.

I'm using .247 from the beta that was released a week or so ago--I assume (?) it is the same as the official release.

I changed the "true" to "false" in the VVM alx file and unchecked the box, so it didn't load, and I get the voice mail notifications. Does anyone know or understand why AT&T doesn't support this function?

They are still on OS .167 so far as I can tell---I don't think they've ever upgraded it since I bought the Bold several months ago. What is their thinking? Are they just waiting for a super-stable new OS? Don't we have that in .247?

Default Working Smooth - 03-12-2009, 03:44 PM

The installation of .247 was very smooth without any issues.

As for changes, outside of adding "(Ring Tones)" beside the Profiles tab in the Options menu, I have yet to find any major differences between this and the previous OS.

Speed seems the same, battery life is the same and so is the memory capacity.

Great OS without any problems.

All Newbies: Do not be afraid of the upgrade. Easy as pie!

Is it just me or did I lose the ability for the "Mass Storage Mode" prompt on my blackberry when I plug my blackberry in to my computer, even with previous version, it doesnt make any sense.

I dont have an SD card but enjoy the ability not to use the media manager and just dump my files on to the built-in memory like an external harddrive, I'm thinking of going back to .224 which was the last version I had which was successful in doing so.

I know the media manager shows the entire file structure, I'm just wondering if I'm missing something here that someone can point me out to.

IIRC, the last rumored release date for ATT to offer the VVM for BlackBerry is supposed to be the 25th of this month. Assuming this is still accurate, I would think they will release their official OS update on or around that time. Whichever version it will be. There is a thread on these boards somewhere, where (My self included) some people saw the feature available on our OLAM for a brief few hours, and then ATT pulled the feature. It wasn't active at the time of the offering, but someones investigations lead to the article I remember seeing about the release date.

Do they still make encyclopedias?

thanks worked great and my voice mail icon works again..really was annoying without a message indicator. I guess by the time they support VVM there will be a new os update. Untill then, back to the old way but I at least know I have a message!

Been using .247 for almost 2 weeks since it was first leaked as a beta. Seems like I'm getting very good battery life. Very stable.

Nothing has changed as I'm on BES and my settings carry over after the upgrade, even after deleting my profile from BES and starting from scratch didnt make a difference.

Since my post count is so low, I can't post up links here is what it reads:

Encrypt Media Files: NO

Experiencing problems with BlackBerry messenger messages not going out or not coming in.
With 221 it worked great.
3G is less stable : switches from 3G to EDGE often when signal is low (one bar).
