Default Is there an update to increase life of battery?

Sorry if this has been covered, a daft question maybe or even me talking out of my backside but a user here has suggested that there is an update for the Bold to increase the life of a battery?

Is he talking nonsense?

update the OS to at least .216, if not the latest .247
