Default Improvements with GMail and New BIS

Please Login to Remove!

My provider, O2 UK, has upgraded their BIS and I've seen a couple of useful improvements:

- When I read an email on my B'Berry, it now appears read in GMail via a web browser (although interestingly it doesn't work the other way around)
- When I send an email from my B'Berry, I no longer receive a copy of it as a new email on my B'Berry. I know this annoyed a lot of people and there was a workaround - but nice that its been properly resolved.

Just thought others may be interested if you haven't been upgraded yet.

unfortunately they "broke" the "workaround" we had so that deleting on the blackberry put the message in "All Mail".

GMail and Blackberry is now almost useless to me.

Don't understand what you mean? Its not something I've used or noticed? I'm very happy with GMail on my Blackberry.

We used to be able to setup a special filter so that when you selected "delete from mailbox and handheld" the message was moved to the "all mail" folder.

That's not the behavior anymore.

Ok - I understand. I rarely delete any email, to be honest. If I ever need to find an old email, I find the search function on the blackberry or on gmail via a PC Browser very effective.

That's precisely my point. I used my blackberry to "file" messages in the "all mail" folder so I wouldn't delete them. Now I can't do that anymore.

Just curious why you don't want to leave them in your inbox?

I use my inbox for emails that can't directly be followed up on my blackberry. If its just a simple reply, then I would reply on my blackberry, the archive the message. If it was something more, then I would leave it in my inbox for follow-up later. This helped me keep the clutter in my inbox down, so that I knew that the 5 or so emails in the inbox were there for a reason.

Understood. Everyone has their own way of managing their inbox.

Yea, its all about productivity and efficiency. And for me, this is a huge setback.

I'm hearing that if you setup GMail the old way (ie, no passwd @ first), people are having some success.
