Default VERY UPSET about Bold syncing and Calendars!!

Please Login to Remove!

OK, I have been a loyal Blackberry user for many years, and I have just upgraded from the 8800 to the 9000 (Bold)...and I am LIVID. I have a pretty simple setup, which models from years ago could handle - from when they looked like this:

I have ONE personal email account that I need to have forwarded to my device, ONE work email that I use the Redirector to send to my device, and ONE calendar (work) that I would like to be able to keep synced with my device when I plug in. Pretty simple, right???

Well, I have wasted 2 days trying to get this setup to work with the Bold, and I have not had much luck. At first I thought it was the version of Desktop software, so I installed, tested, and uninstalled all the way back to v4.3. So I fear that the blame lies with the Bold. Here are my issues:

1. When I plug in, with the desktop manager software running, and with the "Sync when connected" checkbox checked, no sync occurs. The screen of the Bold briefly goes to the sync screen (black with the computer and handheld icons), but no sync occurs (the screen flashes on for about 1 sec). This is not a dealbreaker...I guess I can initiate the sync manually, but it's really annoying.

2. I can not get any of my calendar items to sync either way, and I suspect that it's this new multiple calendar thing, but I can't seem to get it to work. I set the default for both messaging and calendar in the options to point to the same account (tried both work and personal), but that didn't work. Sometimes a sync will duplicate items on the handheld, but I can't get ANYTHING to get into my work calendar. Like I said, my 8800 did this perfectly.

3. For some reason, the desktop redirector works occasionally, but when it does it takes like an hour for the email to arrive on my device. What the heck? This also worked on the 8800, and would think that this is more of a function of the desktop software than the device, but what do I know...

If anyone can help (especially #2) I would really appreciate it. As much as I hate to say it, this experience is making me think about getting an iPhone! THAT'S how mad I am!!!

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

it should work. I do the same with my system. Please make sure that you have the latest desktop manager. And if so, just reinstall.

Please do not get discouraged. An associate has an Iphone, he wishes he had gotten the Blackberry.

If all else fails, starting from scratch is usually a good idea. With both the desktop manager software and your Bold. Also, which OS are you running. Always good to stay updated with that. .247 is working pretty solid and I'm a huge advocate of it recently :P As for the desktop software, I'd uninstall it, remove any traces of it (folders and registry entries). Reboot and reinstall the latest version.

I'd also check the synchronization settings for the calendar. You can map them to what you want synched. Could be one of those settings?

Default Thanks, but no cigar

Thanks for suggestions, but nothing seems to help. Upgraded both the device OS and the Desktop Manager version, and still nothing. Deleted all extra calendars from the service book like someone suggested, and i can not get ANYTHING to sync between device and Outlook. Not sure what the heck I did, but the sync is not working at all.

Any other ideas??

GOT IT TO WORK!!! What fixed it was to delete ALL the CICAL entries in the service book, not just the ones that i didn't want to use. Then it began using the default calendar, which is linked to my work calendar...which is exactly what I wanted.

Thanks for the technical and moral support!

Can you tell me how to delete the CICAL entries in the service book. I am having the same synch issues. I just got the Bold and have been unable to synch my calendar to Outlook. It does the contacts fine then hits an unexpected error in the calendar and shuts down.

go to options-advanced-service book and delete entries that end in [CICAL]

Yes. You needed to get rid of the entries and then the CICAL service books for it to work.

clean wipe is always the best solution to syncing problems. Sync-ing is hard, copying is easy.
