Default email read in outlook, showing as not read on BB Bold

Can someone help me?

I'm new to Blackberry and have a Bold. I've set it up up to link to my work Exchange server, and a personal hotmail account.

These work great and I get any new mail on both Outlook (for work) and the Bold.

If I read/delete the meail on the BB, it's deleted from Outlook. Brill!

But if I read it in outlook it stays unread on the BB. Also if I delete from my in box in Outlook, or move the mail to another folder, it stays as unread on my Bold. Even if I do a reconcile.

A also tried connecting the Bold to my PC and did a Synch in the desktop manager.

Is there a way to keep these synchronized?

BTW - I am not using BES.

How do you have it set up for your work email?

Looks like BES is the only way to set it up to have true two-way synchronization. Which is very unfortunate, I must say. I'm not too fond with their IMAP functionality... since IMAP is supposed to allow for folder synchronization as well including calendar and contacts.... BUT I guess they would do this on purpose because if everyone could set up IMAP with full functionality, they wouldn't need BES ;) Thus they would lose money. *sad*

Mail doesn't sync using BIS. Sounds to me like it is working as advertised.

You might try astrasync, which supports exchange via active sync
AstraSync - BlackBerry ActiveSync - Connect a BlackBerry to a ActiveSync Exchange Server It does costs yearly though.
