Default Do Not Download "Blackberry Apps World"

Please Login to Remove!

It seems that by downloading this (less than stellar) application, Blackberry deletes the Blackberry Maps application from your Bold. Several friends - and some people on this site - have reported this sneaky move!

BEWARE - The Apps Store is not worth losing Blackberry Maps, IMO!

BB maps was reported to be removed by a service book push out from AT&T about a month ago.
If you hasnt resetn service books, then maps would have still been there, but App world needs a service book (i believe) and so the new service book for hiding BB Maps was pushed out.

Thank you, Midnightraven. I don't think I searched long enough to find this thread.

IMO - Blackberry App World is still not ready for primetime: You see a list of apps, but there is no real description - just the ability to buy an app that is just a name listing.

You need to check the AppWorld thread. If you click on and app an scroll down, you can see a description as well as reviews of the app.

Wirelessly posted (9530; .135 MF231)

I'd to see the posted proof of all the people having the very same issue.
Bbmaps missing is 90% of the time a Service Book issue.

Hmmm...that's strange. As soon as I resent service books after the 2.6 upgrade, the icon disappeared on my device. From reading around, it seems like most of the others on AT&T experienced the same during that timeframe after resending their service books. The only way I've found to get the icon to show up again is to restore the service books from a backup made at the beginning of March or earlier.

Perhaps you are the chosen one! LOL

Question Running 100% good on mine

Same as "whsbuss" I downloaded Apps World when it first came out as well as the update and i have not had any issues with any other apps on my BB Bold, BB Maps still working, but I am with Rogers so it could be an issue with AT&T only like "PapiPabs" said.

Yup, it's definitely service book related, and thus linked to AT&T. Not sure why it's working for whsbuss since he's on AT&T as well, but good for him. At least AT&T didn't ruin everybody's fun!

I'm not really sure why they would bother blocking it though, as they haven't blocked Google Maps. It does essentially the same things as BB Maps, and IMHO is a better overall app.

Is there an easy way to get BB Maps back?

My bb maps disappeared, but I found it tonight in my Downloads section. No clue where it went for the few days since I downloaded the app world, but it is now back.

I thought it was just me! I've got Maps installed, and I've uninstalled it and reinstalled it, and I can't find it anywhere!

From what I've seen, Blackberry Maps refreshes itself as you're moving; Google Maps only refreshes manually

Yeah, BlackBerry Maps follows your path down the road, with a marker. Google Maps is great for finding something, but it doesn't track your path. Also, if you are out in the country, with no 3g, Google Maps isn't too good. It downloads your satellite maps on the fly, via the internet and it can bog down. In the city, Google Maps is fine, because there is [almost] always 3g there.

Try some of the menu options in BlackBerry Maps - it is pretty good at some things.

What do you mean google doesn't refresh?

You mean when using GPS? Mine does. I'd I use google maps and GPS it shows me where I am in realtime and what direction I'm going.
