There's a small white sticker covering one of the screws holding my Bold together.

I'm guessing this is there to indicate if it was taken apart, presumably voiding the warranty. Anyone know if there is another purpose to this?

So I'd like to replace my stock trackball with a black one. My current isn't working well anymore and I've read that the black work better and have fewer problems.

Theoretically I could do the whole warranty exchange thing, but that's a hassle and I went through 3 Curves in 9 months due to the trackball and I'd rather not go through all of that on a regular basis.

If removing that little sticker is going to void my warranty, I'm undecided if I want to go there. Does anyone know if there are other indicators the Bold has been disassembled?

just gently remove sticker place it somewhere safe then replace it when done

The white sticker indicates water damage as well as disassembly, resulting in a void warranty.

Actually the water damage indicating sticker resides in the battery compartment and is a square sticker.

The sticker on the screw is very small and appears to be quite delicate.
Seems unlikely to survive removal.

It is actually not as fragile as it appears. I removed the ones off my bold and my wife's bold with a good pair of tweezers. I left it stuck to one prong of the tweezers while I swapped around parts (trackball, housings, etc...). When I was done I placed the sticker back over the same screw and gently pressed it back in place with a small flat head screwdriver while I removed the tweezers from it.

I've accepted the fact that problems only come up after Manufacturer's Warranty is over. LOL

So when I Blacked Out my BOLD I didn't think twice about it. Then again, if problems do rise I like to think that I can fix it myself with the help of cnn.cn
