Default BB Bold does not synch all contacts from desktop

I have a new BB bold hsing BIS to get e-mail and the desktop tool to synch Calander and contacts.

I have 302 contacts in Outlook but when I synch with the BB only 271 get copied accross.

I get a warning after the synch process that 31 records were skipped and to check the log, but the log does not say anything about the contact records.

I've identied a few of the records that do not get copied, but can see nothing unusual/different about them.

I tried using the desktop backup/restore - advanced tool to clear all the contacts on the BB and re-tried the synch. Same result (ie only 271 copied).

Any ideas!

Update:

Now I am getting some information in the log. (after changing the options to only synch the contacts).

Getting 31 lines of the form:

Unable to convert field data to/from local codepage. The record will be skipped.
IGNORE "Eaton"
Unable to convert field data to/from local codepage. The record will be skipped.
IGNORE "Kirrage"

The two names are surnames of contacts in Outlook.

Still not clue as to why some convert and some do not.

I had the same trouble: the first thing you have to check is that you have anything written in the "last name" box; otherwise it won't synchronize the contacts with only names. On the other hand please be aware that sometimes the BB create two or more address books, so my advise is deleting all of them and use your last backup.

Thanks for the response, all the items failing have both a first and last name.
Any my Bold only has a single address book.

Not sure what to try next!

Probrably you have some kind of specific information within these contacts that does not match with any field in DM. Review the synchronization options in DM and verify both the filters and the fields in advanced options. If that does not work...delete all the information you have in your bb address book, and try to synchronize in only one way, that is from outlook to your bb. May be that could force DM to include all your contacts in your BB

Thanks, I changed the mapping to do just the required fields (first name, last name, company) and that worked.
I'm working through just adding fields ones at a time and all is ok so far.

Problem solved, thanks bartok!
