I downloaded yahoo messenger via accessing Yahoo website using the built in browser then clicked on the download link, the download and install went fine. when i start the application and fill in my user name and pass then click sign in i get a message that says "Service not enabled for this handheld".

*I am connected to wifi and my network data is on
*Using Tmobile

You don't have the service book for that appliction. And I'm guessing if you don't have a BB plan with your provider, then you won't get the data services, and even being on wifi, you would need the service books for Yahoo! Messenger from your provider, and I'm guessing that you would only get that if you have a BB plan.

you mean a BB plan would do it, because i have a regular data plan. And Opera mini, google maps and other apps work fine

If you check your Options|Advanced Options|Service Book and you see BBFS2(YHO) then you should be good (as far as I know, which might not be much). If its not there, then its a service book issue which you have to get from the provider.

Yahoo works off of service books, which without a BB data plan isn't going to be available

I use OZ instant messenger, which covers Yahoo as well as two others.

It works perfectly.

No need for the yahoo version. Sorry I don't have a link but it is the general I'm program that mobile.blackberry.com used to push.

You may need to do a search.
