Default Sync all Outlook Email on Blackberry Bold

Please Login to Remove!

Hello all, I have a quesition and I hope someone can help me. I currently reset my blackberry bold (did a wipe) and re registered and re synchronized with our BES Server. However now I only have the email for today on my device, how can I synchronize email to by device from previous dates, before I wiped the device?

Thanks

The only way to get previous email is if you have a backup of them. There is no way to sync your device with your old Outlook emails. Only new emails will be sent to your BB.

I think you can tell it from the BES server the time span that should be synchronized. I would tell you exactly where the option is but I'm not near my BES server at this moment, but the option is there.

If you can find it, I would love to know where that is at. I've searched high and low on my BES server and I've never seen that option.

Ok, back at my desk. I'm using BES manager 4.1.6.10. I select the name of my BES server within the left panel, then select the Server Configuration tab on within the right panel. Then I select the Edit Properties option. From the resulting dialog box, I select the Messaging option and then scroll to Prepopulation By Message Age. That tells your server how far back it should go when sending e-mails to your BlackBerry on first synchronization (by default its 14 days I believe). The option just below that Prepopulation By Message Count, tells the server what's the maximum e-mails to send within the days that you specify (default is 200). So you will need to adjust both those option accordingly as it will not exceed the count even if its within the number of days.

Hope that helps you out too mckinneycm.

Let me know.

Ok, so I deleted my messages. Setup my Prepopulation settings, and then re-activated my BES account. Nothing. Only new emails are getting sent to my device.

BTW, I'm using version 4.1.6.17

Did you restart your server? I says that some changes require a server restart. I'm just telling you what I did for a user that worked.

I'll try using one of my new unassigned BlackBerry and try to replicate when I get time, maybe later today.

I have managed to sync my blackberry with outlook account(BES). Just tell it to sync while hooked in on usb within the DM. (this way) iirc will sync them but not provide the original time stamp. Though this is also dependent on what auto-archive settings are.(However, I am a little fuzzy on this technique as mckinneycm may know better than I) as I had abundant ipsd archives local as well.

Can you still access your folders from within the mail client. You are pushing folders for redirection correctly?

I wiped the device and started clean again, but still the same it will only grab the new email. I also tried the Blacbkerry Desktop Manger but I dont see the option to sync inbox email. I check my BES server and I didnt' find an option to select how many or how far back i can sync my exchange email (if found the option, as stated in your previous post ) I'm wont be able to restart the server until after business hours because of SLA reason.

I reset the Prepopulation, and I guess I'm going to have to wait for tonight to restart. I'll keep you updated.

Ok, you won't see that option in the DM, I've never seen it in there, maybe it will be in version 5.0 which I have just installed but have not restarted my laptop yet.

Let me know how the restart goes.

Prepoulation only occurs for a newly added BES user, or a new PIN (device) for an existing BES user.
If you want to kick off prepoulation for a user with the same device, then the user needs to be removed from BES and re-added.
Also, the maximum prepop limits are 14 days or 750 messages... Whichever is reached first.

All this "restart BES" talk is nonsense.

I have this same issue. Wiped a Curve handset, recreated user in BES Manager, re-activated the handset, but now the handset only shows the last 14 days worth of email.

The Messaging repopulation settings are set to 14 days or 750 messages (whichever occurs first).

Is there anything I can do to get ALL of the user's emails on the handset? There are emails going back to last August, can't I have all emails?

Thanks

Ok thanks for the info, thats pretty rubbish of Blackberry, a windows mobile device doesn't have that limitation. It would be great if they provided a patch for this.

I don't mean to hijack the thread but I have a similar question and I'm curious if it just won't work, or if the BES needs to be configured differently...

I have Folder Redirection set to synchronize my Sent Mail, but any mail I send from Outlook never gets synced back to my blackberry. It's important for me to be able to search for and find on my BB e-mails that I sent from my desktop. Is there a way to have these items synced?

If you know you're about to hijack a thread, then why bother to do it?
Just start your own topic.

It's not a limitation, or a bug. This is by design and there's likely not going to be a patch to change this behavior, because nothing is broken.

If you want to see "old" mail on a newly activated device, then just use the Remote Search feature on the device.

Too many problems are user-created, and then we hear the user saying, "How come I can't...." Without fail we find there has been no user backup to restore from, just a lot of "Waaaa!" and some fist-shaking pointed at RIM.
