No dice, i tried that twice, using the apploader /nojvm and the USB device will not show in the connection dropdown, so i remove the battery. and as soon as i put it back in it continues to flash twice then four times. I think the device is dead. I've seen regular flashing but never for time fast folowed by two short pulses.

If anyone knows what this means please let me know

What happened prior to this happening?

Be patient, it may take multiple attempts. I've seen others report up to 20 attempts before it made a connection.

I would wipe it completely with JL_Cmder and then load the OS. See if that gives a different outcome.

A friend of mine gave it to me and they said it just died one day. And I would wipe using JL_Cmder but it also won't connect.

Is the USB port missing any pins? I had to replace a Curve USB port because it was doing the same thing.

We have been trying to recover from this same error for a week now. I believe the 2/4 means buy a case of 24 beer, drink them all then throw the handset out with the empties! This unit was working fine until an attempted lcd change so I seriously expect it was a static discharge.

Collin, If you have not found a fix for this yet, you can try this to get the OS back in line?

run a console (cmd.exe) and type the following to bring up the loader manually.

cd "\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader"
loader.exe /nojvm

I have used this several times to restore a "bricked" BB.
