Question Change reply color?

Please Login to Remove!

Is there anyway to change the color to email replies from the default blue? I've searched and can't find anything regarding this. Any info is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I don't think you can do this from your device.

When replying to an email its default is black, like all text on the BB.
I can only assume that when replying to an email that came into your device that was written originally in blue, that the reply would also be in blue.
Though I have not seen that, and find it strange that your replys are in blue.

The messages I reply to don't come in as blue, they are black. When I type my reply on my BB it shows up as black but when I view it form Outlook it shows up as dark blue.

Any ideas???

Change it from outlook. That is an outlook option.

Within outlook go to the Tools menu, then select Options. Then select the Mail Format tab, then select the Fonts button. Make your changes there.

^ That's only for sending email from the Outlook client. It has nothing to do with receiving email. Besides all my settings in Outlook are already set to black text.

The BlackBerry cannot compose email in HTML, it can only receive in HTML. Therefore it cannot create colored text. There is no setting for this on the device.

Listen very carefully, I will "say" this only once (again).

The BLUE text that you are seeing when you open an e-mail that you have replied to from your BlackBerry and then the person replies as well IS a function of Outlook. Now, in my earlier post I mentioned where to go to change this color and that's the only way to resolve it. Now when you make the change it will not affect e-mails already replied to, just ones from that point onward.

As mentioned by jsconyers above, BlackBerry does not compose in HTML, so no formatting instructions for the fonts are coming from your device.

The mail format, fonts option affects both sending and receiving e-mails. Read carefully. It says "When replying and forwarding:" to be safe you can also choose the option below to "Always use my fonts" - Outlook 2003.

Something else that just popped into my head. If the person replying to your e-mail has their mail client to send replies or forwards in a specific color, then that is what you will see when you get it in your mail client.

Wow, I don't know what to say to this reply other than to point out that you shouldn't talk down to people. It's just a very immature and bad way to convey any point.

What you are talking about are Outlook settings. That has nothing to do with sending/receiving on your BB.

The only plausible reason is what jsconyers pointed out. Since BB does not send emails out in HTML Outlook must display the plain text email in blue since it's a reply. There is no way to make it display in black in Outlook. By default I already have all my settings with all font colors for sending/receiving set to black. Send a test message to yourself and reply to it and you'll see what I'm talking about. I'm using Outlook 2007.

Tag824, apologies if you thought I was talking down to you. The line "listen very carefully, I'll 'say' this only once" is from an old comedy called Allo-Allo. So my apologies there.

Now, if its showing in outlook, then its outlook. The fact that you say that all your fonts are black, then maybe the answer to your question could therefore be my comment just above that says that it could be coming from the other side. I have the same setup you're taking about and when I checked one of my e-mails, I saw where the writing was blue, I just called the person who sent it to me, asked then to go through the process with me and sure enough, their outlook by default is setup to use the color blue for replies and forwards. I asked them to change it to green, they replied to another e-mail and the text came green. So if your outlook is configured for all black text, then the issue of the colored text is coming from the other side.

Hope that helps, and sorry again for the misunderstanding of my note.

I guess it got lost in translation. No worries and thanks for your input and help.

The Bold can send in HTML.
This can be enabled/disabled on the BES
nb -- This rule applies only to Java-based BlackBerry devices version 4.5.0 and higher --
I would also like to set the font/colour as I also found that the font is not related to my Outlook profile. If I find anything I will let you know
