Default Enterprise Activation Issues - Stuck at 11%

Please Login to Remove!

I recently upgraded my Bold Device software to the V 247 mentioned elsewhere in this forum. I downloaded the recently released version for my carrier (Airtel)

After that my Activation is stuck at 11% and no amount of effort seem to progress it. The mails are however coming and Calendar is synced from Lotus notes to some extent. The address book from my Lotus notes has yet to come. I can however lookup my enterprise address book in the lookup mode.

I wiped the Handheld and tried again with the Wireless activation and still the same. Stuck at 11%.

Would appreciate help. Thanks in advance.

The Enterprise Activation can take some time to complete. How long did you wait before you started trying to use the device?

Thanks indeed for the response. First time round I waited overnight and the next few times after battery pull I have waited for a few hours.

The last one again is stuck at 11% since this morning (It is evening in India). However, enterprise mails are coming and I can send mails. Though every item in the Activation shows "Initializing". I can not access my personal address book as it is on Notes Server copy and has not yet replicated to the device.

The previous times I had upgraded the device SW (in 83xx Series), the activation took less than a couple of hours each. Even this Bold when bought new took less than 2 hours to fully activate and retrieve settings from network and server. I wonder what is holding it now.

Any pointers would be sincerely appreciated....Thanks again for your time.

Overnight does seem a little excessive, although I have seen that happen. Do you have a lot of calendar entries and/or contacts?

Surprisingly, each time I re-start or begin an activation, the calendar comes up real quick and becomes "complete" in a minute while everything else is still "Initializing".

I do not have any mails in the server copy hence that should not be an issue. My address book has around 1000 contacts but in the past they were pushed real quick to the device.

I am at wits end trying to figure out what the problem is. My Sys Admin maintains that in many cases the activations takes over a couple of weeks though I find it hard to believe. He says cable activation is faster. To circumvent that, I kept the Wi-Fi on as well for two nights. But no avail....

Tell your sys admin to start over with your account, then go into Edit your settings, Pim sync, then disable sync on all except your address book. Once your phone gets to 100%, then tell him to enable sync on the rest.

Thanks for this. I need a little more to be able to convince the Sys Adm.

What exactly are you suggesting and why and how would this solve the problem? My apologies for bothering you but it is extremely difficult to ask the Sys Adm to reset the account without a real solid substance as he thinks he is the best that is

If you can give step by step instructions... I would be able to convince him....

No prob. I created a quick document and posted it up on my site. http://www.austintechsys.com/BBsync.pdf . Basically, it sets priorities on what to synchronize first. I get this issue with users that have alot of contacts or just randomly sometimes. The pictures may different slightly depending on what BES version they have, but it should be pretty accurate.

Just as an additional data point to anyone following... I had very similar problems. Fought with it for 24 hours. I remembered someone mentioning issues with DM 4.7. I uninstalled everything; DM, all OS, & deleted the whole RIM folder in Common Files. I then installed the most current version of DM 4.6. Just OS 266. Did the normal Wipe, Install, Restore of my data.

The Activation went without a hitch.

Was it 4.7? Did I have something corrupt in the older install? I tend to believe the latter. When I did the .247 install a month or so ago, I had all kinds of issues getting BBM to actually show up. Had to fiddle and fiddle to get it working again. I had the same issue with the first installs of .266; BBM showed installed in the app list but was no where to be found on the Bold. No one could send me messages.

When I did the system clean of DM 4.7 and moved to 4.6, everything showed up as expected. BBM was back in the Instant Messaging folder. So I can't say for SURE it was 4.7. But I won't be upgrading from DM 4.6 until there is a very good reason.

YMMV. This is just one more data point to look into if you are having issues with Activation.
