Default LCD Screen Discolouration!

Please Login to Remove!

I used one of those lysol disinfecting wipes to clean the LCD screen on my bold and now there is MASSIVE discolouration! Some of the correct colour is being restored but its taking very long and only some parts are doing it. Has anybody ever done this before and does it eventually come back to normal or am I SOL? Thanks!

Did you use it on the actual LCD screen itself by opening the device, or on the plastic lens that covers the screen?

i had a handset that did that, i sent it back to the network - they call it a "paint ball screen" - ie - like it's been hit with a paintball!

Sounds like some of the Lysol seeped around the screen edge and got underneath. It *should* dry out after a time. How long I couldn't say. Just don't do anything - let it dry naturally.

I don't know if it will get back to normal or not. But what I can advise you is to get a screen protector (if your screen colors go back to normal) and use disinfectant whips over the screen protector. #2 if you need a new screen then go to cnn.cn and order an OEM one its around $80 last time I checked. The screen comes in one piece there is no glass cover over the Bold's LCD.

Whats the safest way to clean the screen?

Don't use chemical cleaners on plastic. I don't know if they should start plastering it on all electronics don't don't don't use chemical cleaners. And if you read the label it most likely said to spot test for discoloration before using on a new surface. The chemicals in the stuff ate your screen nothing you can do but replace it.

Post above tells you how to make proper stuff to clean your screen

live and learn live and learn... I wrecked a $300 camera using isopropyl alcohol on the lenses without diluting it first took the plastic film off it and everything was like a dream haze. It never returned to normal, so I warrantied it and had it replaced as defective..
