Default Two brief questions!

Please Login to Remove!

Hello, I have two brief questions if you wouldn't mind taking time to respond to.

My first question is about my trackball.
I have read the threads on how to clean the trackball, but mine has still lost some of its utility in scrolling around. I have a warranty plan with Best Buy which I do believe, if pushed, I can just swap my bold with a new one. I would prefer not to do this since I have my applications and such on my phone.

Are there any alternative methods on cleaning the trackball or making it sensitive to my scroll again? I looked on how to take apart the phone to replace the trackball, but I'm not confident in being able to put it back together and have it function

My next question is regarding ring tones.
I read that I could edit my ring tone on garage band to cut it, and then use that file as the ring tone. Is it possible to do something similar to that on a PC? Just the program itself would be appreciated, after that I should be able to figure out how to do it.

I appreciate the help,
Have a good day!
~Trevor

Unfortunately, to really do a thorough job of cleaning the trackball, you have to remove it. However, I have worked loose debris that is causing my track ball to "freeze" in one direction by gently working the trackball around in all of the other directions for a few minutes. Not a spotless cleaning, but it will get you functional again.

hey, i had a problem where my trackball would only go left, but not right,
i did everything i could to clean it, i even went to the extent of replacing the ball,
and still nothing, so i brought it back to Rogers, and 2 weeks later they told me to call in, they ended up sending me a new bold and me just having to send back my old one!
for the mp3 thing, lol i just use itunes, right click on the song, go to options, and set the start and stop time to the times i want the song to play it, make an acc file of it, copy it to desktop, change it to a ".mp3" and bam i have a ringtone =)

My 8820 trackball used to get really mucked up and had to remove it, which is not too hard on the 88xx. When I saw the bold track ball I though I would be taking it in for cleaning ever couple of weeks, but you are right the gunk does seem to work itself out, even if I eat doughnuts while using it
