Default Bold 9000 OS change?

Please Login to Remove!

Hello guys,

Ive recently purchased a Blackberry bold, and have unlocked it so i can use my O2 sim with it. It was locked to the vodafone network before. What i would like to know is if it is possible to change the OS from vodafone to the O2 version? Ive downloaded the O2 OS for the bold but dont really understand how to install it? Also is there a way to get rid of the vodafone logo evertime i turn the phone on?

Thanks.

There is no such thing as a "O2" version or a "Vodafone" version. All of the handheld software is written by RIM and tested and released by the carriers.

You can't change the splash startup screen using any legally released software.

The OS has nothing to do with the startup screen.
You can load any carrier's OS onto your device.

The process for upgrading (installing an Os) can be found in the "latest OS" stickied thread at the top of this forum.

To remove the startup screen would mean a process called debranding, which requires software that is illegal, and therefore the process or software cannot be mentioned in the forum.

Just a question for my curiousity... why would software to debrand a BlackBerry be illegal when just about every other manufacturer is fine with it?

It is illegal because it is the property of RIM, and we do not have legal rights to use it.

Debranding can also "brick" the phone, which is why it is not suggested a as a method to any problem, especailly one as small as the picture when the device starts up.

Ok was just wondering since I know for a fact that other companies like Motorola and Nokia are fine with it. On a side note, does anyone know how I change my OS version on here since it's wrong?
