Default Bold with no BIS..

Please Login to Remove!

hi guys im new to this forum and im very glad that i found this site with alot of informations.. but.. i have a big big problem!

I bought a Bold, ATT Unlocked. Im trying to use it in another country, its been very frustrated to try to get it work, my sim card is registered with a BIS plan, it even works on other Blackberry, but somehow it just doesn't work on mine..

1) I've registered the device on the blackberry site with IMEI and PIN..
2) I've tried sending service book, but its still not working
3) I've tried putting my sim card to another blackberry phone, the like Blackberry ";:" icon shows next to 3G which means the plan is activiated..
4) I've tried loading my service provider's device software

I've simply tried everything just to get to work.. no luck at all :(

Anyone please help!! sorry if theres already a post like this before :(

Only thing I can think of is that you carrier doesn't offer the Bold and therefore dont support it. Because of this, they dont have the service books to make it work.

As an example, I was looking into get a BB flip on t-mob uk, which t-mob uk dont sell or support and was told i couldn't get email to work as they dont support it, therefore no service books for it to work.

i'll keep thinking though.

so the sim card is provisioned correctly for a blackberry data plan, and your email is setup on the BIS site, so the PIN and IMEI are accepted.
But you're not receiving a data connection.

Can you go to manage connections-mobile network options and see if data services is set to on, off or off while roaming.

Are you using the SIM that came with the Bold, or one you already had an account for? If the latter, is it more that a year or so old?

I've had SIM cards with Rogers since they first started offering GSM phones. I've simply moved my original SIM to new phones, then my 8700, 8800, 8820 and finally to the 9000. That's when strange stuff started to happen, voice worked fine, but data was flaky and got worse over time. Turns out there has been an encryption upgrade that my old SIM didn't support but was needed for the Bold (3G?). Any way, I had my account moved to the SIM that came in the box with the Bold and hey presto it worked.

Are you sure the Bold is really unlocked? Sounds like maybe it's still locked to AT&T. Check it like this: How do I determine if my BlackBerry is "unlocked"? - BlackBerryFAQ

I'm just throwing this out because everything else has been asked and answered: Could there be an issue with the SIM card that only manifests in the Bold? I think I read that the SIM was tested in another bold and it worked, so maybe it's a dumb question.

Was the Bold ever working right? Or did you buy it and straight away tried to use it it on HKCSL, was able to register it on the BIS, and found the data does not work? -> Is the Bold broken?
