Hi all,

Firstly, apologies if a similar thread has been posted before, but I couldn't find it.

I have a BB Bold which has become a little too slow for my liking. I have upgraded the OS on it 2 or 3 times now and I realise that after a fresh upgrade the handset becomes pretty fast. But after a while it starts to slow down a little. The main frustration is when I tap in my password to unlock the phone; I get a "Please Wait" message while the phone is being unlocked, but sometimes this may last a good 5 or more seconds, which can be annoying if you're trying to make a quick phonecall.

Another one is when you try to get into BB Messenger - it can be quite slow accessing it.

Not quite sure what causes it. I do a soft reset every now and then (by removing the battery for 10 seconds), but even that doesn't seem to sort out the problem in the long-term. Any tips on how I can speed it up?

What OS are you running? I'm running .247 and its super fast with no issues at all.

You're posted config looks ok to me.

It is v4.6.0.266. I have an up-to-date OS, I don't think that's the issue, especially as I had the same problem with all other OS releases. If I had to guess what was causing the problem, I would point the finger at Content Compression - what do you think? I don't even remember enabling Content Compression - do you know if this is enabled by default?

I was thinking that it could be content compression, then I looked at my config and realised that I have that enabled as well. The only thing I don't have enabled is encryption. But I'm guessing it wouldn't hurt any to disable compression and see how it runs for the day.

I noticed the same problem since i upgraded to .266 but I'm used to it now.

protection is off by default.
I would say this is your problem, as it takes more memory to protect to data, as opposed to just data. theres data + protection.
