Default Bold or Tour

Please Login to Remove!

I purchased a Bold last week from ATT only to find that Verizon will be releasing the Tour this summer.
Which device should I keep?
At present I'm am totally impressed by the Bold; love the keyboard and think the screen is incredible. ATT in my area (Concord, NH) has vastly increased over the past year and says they aren't done, but Verizon is a stronger network in the larger area?

Which would you choose and why. I feel like I'm 51% for the Bold and 49% toward the Tour and would appreciate your help.

Thanks,

Dave

I like GSM devices better. Especially being able to use voice and data together which you can not do on Verizon. I suggest sticking with the Bold.

Wirelessly posted (Its All About the U!)

If ATT has good network coverage, stick with them

Another vote here for the Bold/AT&T. The Bold is a more mature device while the Tour is going to be a first revision device. There are often some kinks to be worked out even considering the OS is not radically new like the Storm's OS. The Bold will be the safe bet.

If you're going to lock into a 2yr contract, I would stick with AT&T and the Bold. You just have more options on a GSM provider.

The Tour will be a bit faster, bit better display, a little more memory, but I bet in the long run you won't notice any of that. You may however notice the shabby voice service on AT&T (oops, did I say that?) - all kidding aside, the Bold is rock solid and if any phone is going to navigate AT&T's hit or miss service, the Bold is will. Plus the Tour has no WiFi.

Another vote for the Bold. Of course, you do realize that more likely than not you will get responses supporting the Bold considering that you posted this question in the Bold forums?

Actually I did. I'm very impressed with the Bold and am more looking for reasons to keep it than I am to take it back. I figured if the folks in the Bold forum voted for the Tour that it would be very telling.

ATT is the main reason I'm wondering about keeping the Bold. I have 5 bars 3G in my backyard and no signal in the house (I think the Aluminum siding makes it a Faraday cage!). My wife has an old curve and has plenty of signal in the house. I may have to get a femtocell when they are released this summer if I keep the Bold.

My plan is to hold on to the Bold until the Tour/Onyx/whatever it's called is released to AT&T (or at the very least Rogers). The Tour sounds to be an excellent device, but as the grass isn't always greener (and I have a long history with AT&T), I'll stick it out with AT&T.

i would stick with the bold as wel. never been a fan of cdma. the voice and data is a great feature of gsm. also, verizon tends to be a bit more expensive and has a less than incredible data network in comparison to att.

on this not, i noticed the other day that on verizon commercials, they now say "the nations most reliable VOICE network".
last of their commercials, they were "Nations most reliable network"

so they know that att ups their data network

yeah but still no 3G and no WiFi that way. A Tour on Edge only won't be much fun.

I'm voting for the Tour.

The voice quality on the Bold/AT&T isn't as good and the battery life is horrible. I don't receive many complaints about dropped calls from the 8830/8330/9530 VZW users, but my 83xx/88xx/9000 Bold users have complained, a lot. And this is in strong coverage areas.

As far as WiFi on the Bold, it does improve the battery life vs. 3G/EDGE use. The speed gained using WiFi is incremental but not earth-shattering. WiFi connectivity is also finicky.

Regarding nationwide coverage and customer service, the ratings in Consumer Reports speak volumes. VZW is the winner in most major markets.

I have been running concurrently on a Bold and Storm since their release (BES & BIS: multiple email accounts). In my experience, I would choose the Tour.

I used CDMA and GPRS for years and CDMA sounds much better and Verizon service is often better in more placed.

However, cdma is generallly limited to the US which is a deal killer for me. Also, 3G rocks!

Stay with the Bold...
