| Technically you cannot remove the trackball yourself without voiding the warranty. You must completely disassemble your device to get to the trackball assembly. To be honest it is not difficult. I swapped out the stock silver bezel, buttons, battery cover latch and white trackball for black replacements without much trouble. Removing the screws involves removing a small sticker placed in the hole of one of the screws, voiding the warranty should you ever return it for repair missing that sticker.
I have seen at least one or two discussions on these forums about trackball maintenance and cleaning. I came across numerous How-Tos online for removing/replacing a Bold trackball as I prepared to do my blackout/stealth project on my Bold. |
