Planet3 is a '3' the provider's own homepage.

3 state that access the homepage will not incur data charges but if you leave the 3 site then thats when you get charged. You can buy data usage with 3 as add on's for a day or a week?

I'm fairly new to the Blackberry but if you scroll down to the bottom of the menu's and go into setup. In there you can set up a wi-fi hot spot and when completed it'll then say 'log in to hotspot'

Log in there and you'll be connected to your wifi and then can browse free

you need to go to options - advanced - browser
change default to hotspot.

changing it in the browser menu options to hotspot at the top and saving does nothing in this case, as when you next open it, because the default browser in advanced settings is set to planet3 will always open in planet3.

With the 3 phone on the the home screen there is a browser tab and a planet 3 tab. Is it possible to have the bowser set to wi-fi hot spot and the planet 3 set to default ?

That way when i'm home I can browse the browser via my wi-fi which is faster as the reception by me is poor and when out and about I can access the web via plaet 3 through the default settings.

Is this possible or are the 2 browsers really, technically the same ?

Its not possible, i dont think to have one set to default and try to use the other.
as mine is set to internet broswer by default, and tried to change to hotspot under browser options and it remained using internet browser.

I don't know, but it may be possible that planet3 broswer will connect to wi-fi if wi-fi is on. but you'd have to play around with that.
i have a feeling the planet3 browser is only a wap browser.

Ah, it does I think

In the advanced settings under browser it says:

Default browser configuration:
Planet 3 / Hotspot browser

Default WAP browser configuration:
Planet 3 / Hotspot browser

I've set the top one to Hotspot browser and the bottom one to Planet 3.

Went out earlier on and Planet 3 working fine using the 3G signal and back home now and clicking browser gets me online super fast so I know its using the wi-fi signal as reception at home is pretty poor.

good, it should work that way.
if you dont see it, click U when in the browser and it will show or hide the top bar which shows whether you are on 3G or wi-fi
