ya ur right, i never get better than -70 on 3G too. i saw something else before. And i did notice that the higher u go, reception gets worse as well. But not on Edge. Edge is good. Just wish i could get email while on the phone, then i'd never use 3G cause it's just a battery hastle. My bold is a nasty battery hog. I have four batteries and six external chargers just so i can get through one day lol. One battery lasts me just over 3 hours of continuos talk time. And just under 5 hours when im streaming. I love AM radio stations from all around the world. And the Classic HipHop channel on Accuradio.com is allright too.

Everything is fine with 282, the only thing that I hate is how sometimes it's very slow when moving from icon to icon...Anyone else experiencing lags like this?

And by the way, I pulled battery at least 5-6 times so far and it still lags for some reason, any suggestions? Upgrade was done from 167 to 282 yesterday.

Default lost my internet browser after upgrading to .282 - 06-25-2009, 09:12 AM

I am using an unlocked bold on T-mobile network. Since day one I've had internet access thru my carrier on EDGE but after I upgraded to .282 I noticed that I cant get into the internet. It seems as if my phone is only locked to work with wifi.

In browser configuration it's set to "hotspot browser" and I can not change it. I've had this problem since Monday that I upgrade. I've spent several hours with t-mobile and still they cant help me. I've resent the service books about a million times, pulled the battery and sim card out and still nothing. I even did a wipe and still nothing.

Somebody PLEASE help me!!!! I know it's not because its not a supported phone otherwise I wouldn't have been able to use it before.
I am currently paying for Blackberry internet thru T-mobile.

go to options - advanced - host routing table.
menu - register now.

theorectically it pushes service books, which i know you have said you have sent, but sometimes it needs "re-registering" with BB to work properly.

Mark - same issue with my TomTom Go 730. The only solution I found was to pair it on .162 then upgrade and not re-pair it. then it continues to work.

Resent service books or done a register now?

This new OS looks to be working pretty well, except that now when I tether my blackberry, it stops receiving emails and all my chats disconnect, but as soon as I disconnect it out of "Modem Mode" everything reconnects back up, anyone else having these issues?

I think you will find earlier in this same thread, a contributor stating that when you are tethered, the data stream is tied up exclusively serving your notebook, to the exclusion of your blackberry services (e-mail, text messaging, etc). Kind of makes sense.

Hmm this OS freed up 10MB of application memory, but ever since a battery pull I lost 4MB out of nowhere!

I'm not sure that the problem caused by upgrade: the trackball is not working on clicking sometimes (roll to move is ok). I need to click several times to get applications/docs open. The reason I want to upgrade is that when I use 4.6.0.233, the IM messages disappeared after some days though I didn't clear the history.

Done some tests on battery autonomy between 3G and EDGE.
It's seems the difference has dropped significantly. I get now only 15% more autonomy by being EDGE only compared to 3G without phone calls (only emails, browsing, facebook etc ...)
If we include voice calls the difference goes to a little more than 20%.

Also in EDGE i do not experience any dropped calls, failed calls or even network path unavailable. If I go to 3G only, i experience those issues again.

There is a little memory leak (a few kb/day that never recover unless i reboot the device). Nothing nasty though.

It's a hardware problem. After changing a brand new one, everything is normal.

Thumbs up Review... - 06-28-2009, 02:04 PM

Upgraded last week...so far:

- Very slow response reading from Micro-SD...
- Sometimes; screen stays "white" for like 15-20 seconds after taking it out of holster.
- Battery life considerably better. I have Wi-Fi turned ON 24hrs and Radio OFF (I am roaming) and the battery lasts 3-4 days.

Even though these first 2 are the most significant negative issues, I am not considering rolling it back to previous version.

I noticed the same thing. Sometimes I need to click on certain things two, or even three times before Bold responds. Also, the internet will occasionally drop off.

Does the new build address the black lines around the photos when you view them? I know this was a problem in .266. Also, is the battery life better with just wi-fi, or with 3G as well.

Thanks.

I'm rolling back to another version. This release is KILLING my battery. Nothing is running in the background that would contribute (at least that I can close...maybe it's visual voicemail??) It just sucks it dry in about 12 hrs. I've tried battery pulls, etc, etc, and nothing works. Tried 2G still drains fast.

Sucks as I wanted to have the 2G option. Oh well.

Same here, very slow response when reading Micro-SD after battery pull. Usually it takes about 15 min to read Micro-SD and after that my Bold is snappy and ready to go. I have 8gb micro card and I have 1gb left to use. Thats my only complaint about 282 so far.

Default multi language solution - 07-01-2009, 12:24 PM

for eveyone looking for a multi-language .282 and any other firmware here's the solution as posted by a friend of mine(Nabil K):
"""so here is the solution for people who wants full language support:
suppose u still have .266 multi language installed on ur system else install it again or if u have other multi-language firmware it will do.
go to: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\shared\Loader Files\9000 XXXXx (ur firmware version folder)\Java and u select all files and COPY to the same folder of .282 firmware(Java) it will ask you if u want to replace file JUST answer NO to all of them. In this way only the languages files that are not available in .282 will be copied.
Now run your desktop manager and install .282 and you will have all languages available to choose from.
Tested on my bb.
regards,
Nabil K""""

karinko, thanks, but if someone wants the Multilanguage version of this OS, all they need to do is very simply download and install the Multilanguage version which is listed as such in the initial post of this thread.

Very simply.

so what is the over-all opinion of this build? I've been on .247 almost since it's official release... From what I've read on here I can't say I've found anything to say that this is strongly recommended or not. Same as the other site too.

anyone?

I tried 282 and had problems with playback of some video files. I also have .m3u playlists with video files in them, and 282 did not like this at all.

I went back to 266. As far as I'm concerned 266 is the safest version to be on right now.

Has anyone been having trouble with dropping back to EDGE? I went on a road trip over the past two days and on major interstates where AT&T has 3G service I was stuck on EDGE for a long time (~4-5 Hours). An iPhone in the car had 3G access the whole time... When I got to my destination, my BB stayed in EDGE for a long time. I'm not sure what's going on. I gave it a full wipe through the BES (killing 3rd party too) and even before I did EA the phone was still stuck of EDGE. I'm in Milwaukee.

There is a 282 version from Rogers now that "seems" to be fixing the slowness of the pictures loading.

I am wiping with JL_commander and reinstalling all from scratch now ...

It's just a placebo. Release .282 is release .282 whether beta, from one carrier or another. Different releases always carry different version numbers.
