Default Can send but not receive emails

Please Login to Remove!

Hi, hope someone can help. Trying to set up an email account on my BB Bold using the BIS website. I have done this and can send email from my BB bold but not receive it. I use Outlook as an email client on PC and noticed that on the email account settings in Outlook that SSL was deselected and the port number was 110, but when adding the email account on BIS the email account can only be validated by BIS when the SSL box in the email account settings settings shown on the BIS website is selected (which gives a port no. of 995). If I try to replicate the SSL settings used by Outlook I get a validation error message in BIS. Anyone got any idea how to resolve this? I'm sure this must be the reason that I cannot receive emails?

Make sure you have "Leave mail on server" checked in the Outlook Advanced tab

With the device on, pull the battery for about 30 seconds, reinsert and let the device reboot.

Resend service books.

Thanks for suggestions. This hasn't worked. I'm using a POP3 mail account - is it significant that the Outlook settings for the mail account has SSL deslected but on the settings for this mail account shown on BIS, SSL is selected. I've tried replicate the settings shown in Outlook account settings (which sends and receives mail successfully) but BIS won't allow it and I don't understand why? Any ideas anyone?

usually you do not need SSL.
The fact BIS is setting it up with it, is interesting.
Once the email is setup in BIS, do you go to edit and try to uncheck SSL?

Yes, I edit the settings in BIS by deselecting SSL but when trying to save the settings in BIS I get an error message saying an error occured during email account validation. I can only save settings with SSL selected which seems strange as SSL is not selected in the Outlook settings and emails are received fine from there.

Have you tried to delete and re-add the account?

I've tried this but I noticed that BIS seems to remember the settings since when adding the account again after deleting, it doesn't ask for all the settings again but seems to restore them from somewhere. I'm going to delete the account again, leave overnight, clear down all temporary internet files on my PC and try again tomorrow. Thanks for your help so far.

because when you enter the email address BIS polls the server for the settings, its possible its automatically setting it to SSL.
who is your email provider? and can you find out from them perhaps online about their server settings?

Deleteted account and tried again but same problem. No obvious solution - presumably my ISP will need to make some change on my account to allow this to work. I'm changing ISP next week any way so will try again after the change.
