how to assign ring tone for a contact?
 

OK used search but no success....Tried to assign ring tones for several frequently used contacts.

Opened up a contact selected edit and scrolled to bottom and selected the left button (next to track ball) and menu opens up and select "add custom ring tone"...here's the rub: only the preloaded ring tones show up my ring tones in the media card are not a selection choice.....

So now what...? The BB ring tones are lame and don't care for them......

This may be simple but I don't see it.....

Instead of opening the contact, just highlight it in the list of contacts you have, activate the menu and choose the option to add custom ringtone. That should bring up a dialog box that shows all your media files/folders.

Somewhere, you should see a selection that says Browse. This will allow you to find your files on the media card. Look in ringtones and music if you don't find them under ringtones. Either works.

Sorry folks but persistence finally paid off....found the 'change option' and my other ring tones came up....thanks for your patience
