Default Battery discharges when connected via USB

My Bold charges perfectly when my laptop is active. However when the laptop goes into standby or hibernates, the battery discharges fully within five hours even though the Bold is off. Any ideas??

It won't charge when the laptop is off or in standby. That is the way it works. As for why it fully discharges, are you tethered tot he laptop and it is still connected? Are apps running in the background?

Obviously the best way to stop it is to disconnect the BB when you put the laptop to sleep.

may sound crazy but you said the bold was off and the laptop was in sleep mode.
perhaps it used the bold as a battery draining it to keep the laptop running in sleep mode.

Both comments acknowledged!!! I know it won't charge if the laptop is in sleep/hibernate mode, and yes, it is turned off. But if it is off, and the laptop is plugged in to the mains. why does the laptop need to drain the phone's battery?? Spoooky!!!
