i recently picked up a bb bold on a bus stop, no kidding! and i had my bb for 2 months now and my girlfriend wants to have one too, and i'm thinking to get the phone unlocked and give it to her as a gift for her upcoming birthday.. i'm not going to lie about how i got it and i'm going to tell her as soon as i give it to her that i only found it somewhere, something is better than nothing right?

so guys, i really need some advice on this matter. and i'm anxious that once that i bring it to a store that can unlock it that police will be showing up at my back arresting me for the phone and i dont want that to happen..

please help me on this.

if you found a bold at a bus stop, you should hand it over to the police. imagine if it was YOUR bold that you left at a bus stop and someone did what you were thinking of doing!

At least you'd be a good samaritan and find the owner and return it. once a phone is lost, there's hardly a likelihood that the person would get it back, and i would suggest you either hand it to the cops or find the owner yourself and return it. it's much more rewarding than giving it to your gf as a present. i mean she'll be carrying a "stolen" phone by the end of the day.

Did it have an att sim when you "found" it? Or other service providers sim, if so take it there and they can do a serial# lookup

Get it back to the owner. Spend some money on your girlfriend for her birthday. If your Bold went missing, would you want someone to keep it?

My guess is that he posted this to try to get people to change his mind. If he wanted to keep it, he would have kept it without asking our advice. Deep down, he wants to do the right thing, he just needs a bit of pushing to do it.

I doubt the police will show up and arrest you and take your girlfriend's "present" away from her... but it would be great if it did. Don't be a chump... make a real effort to find the owner and spend your own money on your girl.
