Question 5.0 For Bold...ever? - 07-02-2009, 11:01 PM

Will RIM ever release an "official" 5.0 OS build for the Bold or 8900? Any educated guesses?

I hope I don't have to wait for the Onyx...although I wouldn't put it past AT&T to hold RIM back in order to encourage Bold users to upgrade when the Onyx is released.

Wirelessly posted (Hey I'm cool…)

Remember when 4.5 was coming out and how long people waited for that. 5.0 will be out offically when it comes out… that's about the best you will get. Until then we have what's out now to play with.

Has there even been a list of new features released? Other than a nicer BBM, what is changing?

I was perfectly fine with .266, and now .282 is as good...so it's not as if I'm terribly unhappy or what I'm running isn't working, because it is...very well.

But, you would think...that with Apple just spitting out their newly-improved iPhone "3GS", and Palm launching the much-hyped Pre...plus Nokia ready to release the E72 shortly, that RIM would at least throw us Bold-owner-faithfuls a bone with a gen-yoo-wine 5.0.XXX OS for user retention if nothing else!

The Onyx may take a while to release, and we need a new "toy" to play with...in the form of a new OS!!

Yeah, everyone else is releasing new phones, and software, so why is RIM lagging behind? Probably because the OS is not ready yet. And once RIM releases it to the service providers, each of those must validate/test and agree to release it. It takes time... but it will be here when it's time.

I guess everyone is going to switch to Palm and Nokia since RIM hasn't released 5.0, right. NO.

Please don't think that I will add you to my BBM. I won't. Especially if I get sleazy PM's.
