Default Bold Error, wont start.

Please Login to Remove!

Hey Everyone,

today I took my BB Bold out of it's holdster and noticed the error message:

JVM Error 517

How do i fix this?

You could try a battery pull, but generally a 517 error indicates corruption in the OS file system.

You will most likely need to reload your OS.

My blackberry isnt reconized by my desktop manager. Will that be a problem?

Don't use DM. Use Loader.exe as the directions state.

If that doesn't work, follow these steps:

had this happen before with a pearl tried the .exe file and still had nothing.

Just be patient. It may take multiple attempts for it to connect. Also, make sure you're not using a USB extension cable or USB hub. Connect the device directly to one of the rear USB ports on your PC.

Reboot your PC and the device, then try again.

ok, it reads it as USB unknown and the loader is trying to update the device

You didn't need to remove the SIM. Just leave the device connected and let it finish installing. Do not disconnect the device until it shows the home screen again.

You will need to use the JL_Cmder to wipe your device, then use the loader to get the Os back on it, search google for guides ;)

No, that is not necessary. I got a PM from the user saying that the device is up and running.

For any reader having this issue, follow the steps provided in this thread to resolve your issue. DO NOT wipe with JL_Cmder.
