Hi, My bold went dead last weekend and all it does is flashes a red light (1 flash the 3 quick flashes) when it's plugged into a charger or a computer.

Therefore I decided to try and wipe it using Jl Cmder, as I've been told can sometimes help.

I've down loaded everything, and gone through the command prompt etc in dos and got to the bit were the app loader opens, however I can't find the phone in the drop down menu only COM1 & COM3.

I've tried the battery pull and replace but no luck. Anyway I can get the computer to pick it up? Thanks

I can't get the phone linked at all so I couldn't wipe it so I went own the 'what to do next...' path and there's no USB:UNKNOWN in the drop down.

did you read the small print at which point it says you have to get the BB in the right cycle to connect to jl cmder to wipe?

ok, did you therefore read this:


* If you do not see USB:UNKNOWN or USB:BBPIN, then follow instructions listed in a1-a5:

a1) Disconnect the device from the PC.

a2) Keep the Application Loader Wizard window open

a3) Remove the battery and put it back

a4) While the red led is on, reconnect the device to the PC. The led will only stay on for a few seconds

a5) When USB:UNKNOWN appears in the drop down list, you need to immediately select Next

Yes I did, but LED only says on for a second and nothing comes up in the drop down. I've been trying it for about 6 hours and I still can't get it to come up

have you tried leaving the battery out for longer? for example is it a quick 10 second pull or a longer 1 minute pull?
I dont know if this would make a difference.

unfortunately its the only way to recover the device, and the only way is to keep trying either method (jl cmder or cmd)

You can also use the Command Prompts to connect and wipe. Just not so sure you need to. Make sure you have the OS you want installed to your computer. Then plug in the device and then go the the Loader.exe file. Select it and it will load the software to your phone. Theres not much reason to wipe. If you get an error, post it back here.

But I can't find the phone when it's plugged into the computer, I've been using the command prompt but because it can't find the phone it can't wipe it.
