I have an unlocked Bold and I'm going to travel in Australia for a few weeks. Since AT&T eliminated the month to month unlimited data plan (you have to sign a year contract now), I'm going to get a prepaid SIM when I'm in Australia. Two questions. First, I know my number will change, but do I have to many any changes to my web client account or will my emails just start coming in like normal? Second, I don't know if anyone has experience, but who's better in Australia in terms of 3G and coverage. I'll be mainly in the big cities on their east coast (Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Cairns).

firstly if you are using a pre-paid sim, it wont have a BB data plan on it and therefore you can't get your emails.
secondly, even if it does have a bb data plan on it, as your device is linked with your at&t BIS, you wouldnt be able to setup a new BIS on the pre-paid carrier to receive emails.

Thanks. So email is no good. Assuming I get a prepaid sim with a BB data plan, will I be able to use other apps (e.g., Blackberry Messenger, Google Maps).

I don't know of Australia's carriers, but almost (and I say almost, because there may be a couple) no carriers offer a pre-paid service with a BB data plan.

I would suggest Telstra's "Next G" network, I was just in Australia and roaming on their network had extremely good voice and really fast data coverage. If you are looking for pre-paid data, I think Optus may do prepaid data. Might be worth you adding the international roaming package onto your plan and using the unlimited intl data option.
