If you are using BIS, ther eis no email sync. Some carriers, such as Yahoo, have agreements with RIM and software in place to allow it to delete.
The "Delete on BB on Mailbox and Handheld" option will delete email from your email server, but will do nothing to mail that has already been downloaded to your PC/Mac email client.
Three main reasons to not use the carrier supplied account:
1. No SPAM filter so you open yourself up for more SPAM than you wish to receive.
2. If and when you change carriers, you cannot take that account with you. It is gone for good.
3. The only way to read mail to that account is on the BB itself, as there is no webmail option. When there are data outages, you cannot send or receive email and you risk losing some as well.
