i have an unlocked bold that i currently use on tmobile uk. can i buy a sim only contract in the states, if so which network and what are tarrifs like there? for minutes and texts and blackberry service? in nyc area. thanks

Much different than what your used too...you can get a "pre paid" sim from tmob or att but you wouldn't have BIS service. To get true BB service you would need to be on a post paid type of service through either tmo or att and they would more than likely require you to sign a contract for at least a year.

What was said above is 90% correct, only the lenth of contract is wrong. The 1 year contract faded out a few months ago across america and is now a 2 year. At att you can get a 450 minute plan and BB BIS for about 69.99 a month. However the Cancelation fee is only $150. SO if you only need it for one year you can cencel whenever and save some money.

wow - 70 dollars a month for 450 minutes and blackberry?? does that tarrif include text messages? That is quite expensive compared to my tarrif here.

no Texting Plans are as follows:
$5 = 200 Text
$15 = 1500
$20 = Unlimited

Not to make light of the cost...
But the Wife and I both have Bolds and with BIS Data and Unlimits Texting and the unreal 3000 Minutes we need plus some extras like GPS and Roadside Assistance...
We run a monthly bill of almost $280 with taxes. Therefor my friend, I would love $70ish dollars!

wow thats a lot of money. i have the blackberry on flext 75, paying 35 a month for that plus blackberry, i've never gone over on minutes or txts but bloody voicemail costs! the wife has a nokia , is on flext 35, paying 20 a month, never goes over. together we pay around £110 a month - i thought that was a lot! i had no idea it was so expensive there

yeh that bugs me! I have flext 35 and BB email; paying £35 and get £200 of credit to use how I like....cept I never use more than £40 and i have to pay ON TOP of my monthly payment for voicemail!

Shit AT&T is really expensive compared to other carriers, man I wish I had that UK plan, it would be so cheap!

Check out Verizon and Sprint. They are more expensive.
