Default Question to firmware Update in Germany

Please Login to Remove!

Hallo Everyone.
I Need to get an answer or two?
I have the following Telephone:
BB Bold 9000
V.4.6.0.216
Plattform: 4.0.0.183
Branding: 1.0.114.52

My Service Provider is T-Mobile Germany - I am an American living in Germany.
And I an using the BIS with Service Books for my Email.

I use my BB for work as well as private. I also use the following Car kit with the BB 9000:
Bury CC9060

I use the Desktop Software (5.0) to sync two Computers with the same phone.

Is there anyone else here from the same service provider? Do you install the latest firmware?

T-Mobile has informed me that an Update other than the Official Release from there website will not be covered with support or warrenty.
That means if I install the latest software, it is possible the some of the function no long work.

Is there any truth to this?
is it possible that the release are so different?
I am a little afraid to update.
Can someone give me infomation about the Updates and the difference in the Branding?

Thanks
Tim

If you look at the top of the 9000 forum, you will see a sticky with the latest software. Follow the steps on that forum with deleting the vendor.xml file and you will be fine. And for your question about the support... They tell you only to use their software on the devices because they approve. However, RIM approves of the software above them and it is fine for any carrier. The last update I installed on my 9000 was from a korean carrier... And I live in illinois

you can updates to ANY carrier's Os, just follow the instructions.
No, t-mob mean that if you are on a version they dont support, they will either ask you to downgrade first, and wont give you any support.

they are not saying that things wont work afterwards, just that if you have any problems and you call them about it, they wont necessairly help.

We know nothing but what other people who have loaded he OS tell us. AS RIM do not release "release notes" or changelogs.
There is NO difference in branding.
You can load ANY carrier's OS onto your device.

Basically what I was trying to get across. I've never had problems with support using other carriers OS.

If you do have issues... Well, that's what we do with out spare time
