Okay well I'm using .266 software and I don't know if this a problem with ATT service or what but, my friend has a bold using the .167 software- he's getting straight 3G and BB service icons, and I'm not. All I can get is EDGE. I didn't change anything in the phone, it sort of just happened within the past few days.

I pulled the battery and restarted- no luck, it seems to fluctuate in/out of 3G and back to EDGE. I'm going in/out of Unreachable on BBM as well. Is there anything I can double check in my phone? When I go to use the browser, it works, but then stops working after a few pages, my coverage bars drop, then it switches to EDGE.....?

When you installed .266 is you wipe your phone, then during the installation tell the DM that you didn't want to backup the software and settings in your device; this usually erases everything before installing the latest firmware.

I do this with my device everytime I install a new OS and find I have less problems in the end than doing as more of an upgrade installing the OS over top of whats already in the phone. Plus I use BES so I am not worried about the data in my device.

The other thing is there could be an issue with your device and you need to have it replaced or it's a AT&T network probelm.

Have you been with him side by side seeing the differences in signal changes? Or is he telling you this? Because i would call at&t and have them run a tower check in the area that this is happening. They may have a tower or two down in the area causing this. Its unlikely but you could have a defective radio on your device if this is happening.

The two phones are next to each other, one on 3G and one on EDGE, my signal strength is -95 and hers is -84.

ok.. id give att a call.. you could have been on a different tower than she was.. but just check to see they will be able to run a check and see if anythings going on in that area. If nothing network wise is wrong im sure they will be glad to replace your device for you. Just remember to downgrade back to .167 before you replace it though

EDIT: i would next time manually shut off your mobile connection and turn it back on. See if this fixes the issue as well

Now it seems to be shutting off the mobile network on its own....

I'll try and send a text and it will delay, the bars will drop, then go back up, then send. After that, the radio turns off on its own. WTFFF

You probably have to call ATT, its problem on their end most likely.

This is most likely a Tower issue.. CALL att. they will tell you if something is out of whack in your area... IF they say the network is fine, they will send you a refurb bold.

Thanks, I'll delve into the depths of cluelessness of ATT after I get another phone to use. One minute my phone has 5 bars on 3G, next the radio is off.

You might need a sim card because all the issues with ATT service not being good is usually do to the sime card.
