Default Blackberry Bold o/s problem

Please Login to Remove!

I currently have 4.6.0.217 would love to change to 4.6.0.282 I downloaded the new o/s and removed the vendor. When I connect to DM or Apploader I get a message that either one can not find the device software? Can anyone give me some ideas what is going on??

What version of the Desktop Manager software are you running? You may have to upgrade the version to 4.7 or higher.

You can use any DM. I am using 5.0 which seems to be pretty stable so far. However, if you use Outlook 2002 or earlier, then you can only sync using DM 4.2.

But the question I would ask is why do you feel the need to upgrade the OS? Is there a specific feature you need? Is your device not working as you would like it to work?

IMHO (and I probably am ii a very small minority here) there is no need to upgrade if your device is working as you want and need it to perform. There are many cases here of upgrades gone wrong, things not working correctly, etc. I am a firm believer in the old adage, 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it".

The Desktop Manager is a separate piece of software and is completely independent of your carrier or your BB OS version. You can use whatever version you wish... IMHO, 4.6 and 4.7 are equally good... I have had issues running the backup process on 5.0, so I am still using DM 4.7.

Try reinstalling the os on the computer and use apploader, it is easier than desktop manager imho.

So you deleted vendor.xml and double click on apploader.exe. The update runs through and it still says you have .216

i have seen older versions of DM misbehave with loading operations. DM 5.0 seems to have fixed a lot of those issues. Does not hurt to try.
