RIM makes all of the OS files. The carrier certifies and trains the CSRs, hence the delay.

yeah i was on .282 and Wireless Update said nada available as expected. .167 is updating, downgrading, bricking my phone right now I'll come back with something. Too bad we can't extract the OS outta the phone and repackage it.

EDIT: Welllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll dont do that. "Downgraded" using BBDM, and it just went apeshit...solid red light, error from BBDM. I think it might be recovered, that one puckered up my butthole right there. Going to try Apploader.exe this time instead of BBDM, it just booted back to .282...WHEW.

Yep, I'm sure. See attached.

Anyone know if the OTA is only carrier over-the-air, or will it work over wi-fi? I have a 1 to 2 bar edge connection so I don't think that will cut it.

Still not up on the AT&T site. On another note, if you are too lazy to call into the CSR to add the feature to your account, you can now add it online.

It will download via WiFi if you have a WiFi connection available.

You always have the option of waiting for the manual download, which ATT will likely post within a day or so.

I had 12mbs, which only took about 5 minutes, the kicker is when you continue it has warning that it would take up to two hours to upgrade. During which time you cannot use your phone for anything including emergency calls. I'm going to wait until I can download to PC and do upgrade. Just my opinion.

I downloaded and installed the manual install from AT&T... Desktop Manager recognizes the .297 upgrade is available... and then when I hit Next it says "No Software Update is required for your device"

Any ideas?

I must be a retard, i can't for the life of me find the vvm icon on my device. I have it setup with ATT, it's on my acct but the icon doesn't exist. The .cod is in the JAVA folder for teh OS, it has to have loaded just fine. I did a fresh load from Apploader.exe, and have not run a restore yet. Also, before installing this one i uninstalled all the prior OS' i had on here.

bimmerd00d, first select 'Show All' from the menu on the app screen. Second check the downloads folder. Third, battery pull then repeat steps 1 and 2. Let us know what you find.

First things i tried, nada. I remember back on .266 or whatever it was automatically started and could switch to it by holding the Menu button. It's not there now. I had removed the .cod for it back then and haven't seen it since.

Boot up time is roughly half of .282. It did "archive" my programs (AIM, MSN, GTalk, etc.) and when you click on the icon is asks if you want to restore them. Tried to restore it and it hung the device (device time hadn't changed in 5 minutes). Doing battery pull.

Pritesh

Update - after battery pull seems to be fine. Not sure what this archiving of programs are, but I'm thinking restoring then battery pulling is clearing the icons.

Downloading right now, just have to mess with this even I'm using an unlocked Bold on T-Mobile, so well, VVM is a no go but Youmail will do...
Hopefully I see a boost in speed in general.

Anyone?

The OTA option is taking FOREVER (still sitting at 0% even though i'm on WiFi) so I was hoping the manual option would work.
