Default New message indicator problem - 08-28-2009, 03:05 PM

AT&T BB Bold
OS: v4.6.0.297

Updated to the new AT&T OS last weekend but noticed a problem that I can't explain. When my phone is holstered and I receive a SMS, MMS, PIN, email, or BB Messenger I unholster and view the message. Once finished viewing the message, it doesn't matter if I hit the return button or the end button, as soon as I do that and scroll up to the Messages icon, it shows a red asterisk denoting a new message, however there is no new message. A battery pull did not solve this issue. Anyone else having this issue?

I'm actually getting this issue after i receive a new Visual Voicemail message, seems to be like a bug!

I have a very similar issue which also started once I activated Visual Voicemail. It doesn't matter if the phone is holstered or not, but after a Voicemail has been received, and then one or more emails have been received, reading/marking-as-opened/deleting the email(s) will not clear the new message indicator.

What works for me is opening the all/combined Messages list, then exiting the list. This action (of viewing the all/combined Messages list) clears the new message indicator.

Once another email is received however, the new message indicator remains "on" until the above is repeated.

A battery-pull or soft reset (alt-shift-del) will resolve the problem until another visual voicemail is received, then the cycle starts over again.

In captthomason's case, I suspect the permanently unread message message was the registration notification of the handheld on the network. I had an unexplained unread message before I even installed Visual Voicemail, and found the unread message in the all/combined Messages list.

Wirelessly posted

Noticed the same behavior after activating VVM. I'm on v4.6.0.303.
