Question Wipe Blackberry - restore password keeper?

Please Login to Remove!

I am looking to wipe my Bold and install the latest AT&T OS, which I hope will resolve some problems I am having with the radio (always drop to EDGE, never go back to 3G).

My one problem is I am on BIS, and I don't want to loose all my passwords in the Password Keeper. Is there any way to wipe the Bold, install the new OS, and then simply restore just the Password Keeper data?

Worst case I will write all the passwords down, but I was hoping to avoid that.

Thanks in advance!

Yes.

Do a Backup first in Desktop Manager, ANYTIME you upgrade the OS.

Then once wiped and upgraded, Desktop Manager > Backup/Restore > Advanced. In the lefthand pane, choose File > Open and navigate to your latest backup *.ipd file. Load it.

Then scroll down to the Password Keeper data, highlight it, and press the right facing arrow in the middle to move that data to your device. Follow the remaining prompts to complete.

Default Passwords can be saved wirelessly

The OP said that they are on a BIS so this would not apply to him/her.

If you ARE on a BES, go into the app and then options. One of the last items on the list is Wireless Synchronization. Set this to YES. Your password files will be backed up to your organization's BES servers, the same way that your contacts are and you should have no problem.

I recently got a new Bold because the USB port on my old curve broke and I couldn't connect my phone to my PC and back it up. I thought I was out of luck and would have to re-enter all of my pwords by hand when I got the new phone. I even spent way too much time trying to figure out how to do a Bluetooth backup which I never did get to work. (Why is that so hard by the way?)

Anyway I found a thread on this topic and discovered that if I am synching wirelessly my passwords are backed up to the server. I got the new phone, set it up myself with support from our help desk flipping the switch at their end and when it had finished the setup routine I had all my passwords on my new phone. It was great. I keep well over 60 web sites and passwords on my phone so this was a relief.
