Default question about battery life

Please Login to Remove!

hey guys,

i just got a replacement 9000, which works GREAT -- much better than my last one. The only thing I've noticed is that the battery lasts about 1/2 as long with this device. Is there a known reason for that?

Any help would be great.

Thanks!
Jared

Are you doing anything new with your device. Did you add any thrid party apps that you didn't have on your old device. Also, if you do use third party apps, make sure they are not running in the background. Also, is your bold constantly searching for better signal?

Close apps that are not being actively used. The battery may also be the issue.

Since updating to OS .297, battery life has been better. 3G devices are going need a lot of juice until BB turns their attention to it which they may have done with the OS 5.0. I have a charging pod at work and home as well as car charger so I almost always have no issues with not enough battery life.

By the way, this is the same battery I had with the original phone...it just seems like the battery is lasting less with this device

to check what apps are running in the background press use the app switcher and scroll left and right to close the third parts apps.

Try a new batter if all else fails. If it is not the battery, return it to AT&T.

These are through warranty exchange -- its one sh*tty refurb after another. Believe it or not, this is the best one I've had so far, with regard to how the phone works/sounds, but this battery issue is a little annoying.

As an example: I took it off the charger about 45 mins ago, and its already down to 90%, only made one 2-minute phone call, and am connected to wifi.

Edit: a little more than 1 hour off the charger, and its down to 75%

What's going on here?...

If possible, test it with a different battery. That would be a pretty sure way to tell if the issue is with the battery or the device.

I don't know anyone with a bold, that I'd be able to borrow a battery from. I'll search around though

You could possibly go to a store and try the battery from the floor model if they'd let you?

i'll try -- what i've found is that they have no sympathy for warranty exchange issues, since they're not getting the retail business.

anyone know the mAh capacity on the OEM battery? I'll just buy one on ebay -- they're pretty cheap

edit: just talked to warranty exchange -- they want to send me a new battery before they send a new refurb replacement. i'll give it a shot.

Yea, I mean there's no chance thatll fix the problem, but I'm willing to play their games. They DID give me a free 9000 upgrade, so I can't complain
