wi-fi will drain your battery.

you could also try and update your OS. i had the overheating of the battery when i ran OS 4.6.0.190. once i updated to another version, my phone didn't feel like it was overheating or like something excessively hot.

sometimes batteries are just temperamental.

Wifi and Bluetooth both drain the battery fairly quickly and if you are not leaving them both on at the same time it could take a toll on your battery life.

I've done tests w/Wi-Fi on and off, and I can personally speak on the effect that the Wi-Fi can have. The Wi-Fi off makes my phone last exponentially longer, no exaggeration

Wi Fi on or not this battery is just plain hot; way too hot to even keep in your pocket. Even with everything running in background there should be no reason for a battery to go from 100% to 45% in 35 minutes.

I had a problem like this on the first few OS' that allowed you to AT&T users to switch between 2G and 3G. I could literally watch my battery drain, it was ridiculous. I'm now running .297 and I'm back to the usual amazing battery life I've always loved blackberrys for. I'd recommend a reload to a different OS... .297 seems stable for me, but it seems to act differently for different people.

Try Alt(hold it down) then L,G,L,G. An even log will pop up. Hit the BB button and clear the event log. This may help clear up slow performance and or battery drain.

The same happened to me two or three times since I installed 5.0.238 and has never experienced with previous O.S. I agree with Teg94. Try changing your O.S.

Close all unnecessary applications. Press and hold the BB key. If you have programs like a GPS app it will drain battery in a few hours. I upgraded to the latest OS available a few months ago and closed all unnecessary apps. I use to use latitude alot but realized that it was draining my battery.
My OS is v4.6.0.266(Platform 4.0.0.223) I get about 8 hours depending on how ofter I use the phone.

I hope this helps you.

I'm in Toronto and my battery will last almost 2 days.

I recently traveled to the US in various states (Texas, California, Florida, NY) and with my AT&T connnection, my Bold will not last 1 day.

There must be something to do with connection problems. I have BT, Wifi on always and it does not affect my battery at home. In fact, Wifi helps prolong my battery life from what I have experienced.

wow this is really intense.....
Try the obvious.....Look at the screen brightness....options/screen keyboard/backlight brightness and set it to 0. Then see the battery performance.

OS update is definitelt a possibility.
There are threads for that here. So search and u will find plenty.

wifi/bluetooth/gps/games bleed the battery. so avoid or do minimal usage. GPS works best with a car charger connected.

See if this link helps....

wi-fi and battery prolonged? that's a first. the minute i turn on wifi, battery drains out in a matter of hours. it's absolutely retarded.

You know not what you speak of.

Having Wifi on reduces the load on the battery, not the other way around. Takes a lot less power to connect with a Wifi antenna a few yards away compared to the power to connect to your carrier's mobile/cell antenna located as much as a mile of more away.

Noticed something interesting re battery life.

Was in Mexico in Feb 2009. Bold battery used about 50% every day in normal use.

Back in the US, Bold battery used about 50% every day with same applications, similar usage, wifi connection etc.

Back in Mexico in Feb 2010. Same place, same Bold, same battery, same applications, same level of usage. Used hotel wifi connection. Had strong network signal most of the time. Battery used up 100% by mid-afternoon. Thought my battery must have suddenly decided to die.

Back in the US, battery used back to normal, about 50% a day.

Something strange about Mexico? Montezuma's revenge?
