Default Restoring profile settings and QuickLaunch settings after OS upgrade

Please Login to Remove!

I just did my first upgrade to the new OS for the Bold. After the upgrade all
my profile settings and my QuickLaunch settings are gone.

Do you have to restore these from a backup each time you upgrade?

If so, do you just fire up DM, click on Backup and Restore, click on Advanced,
load a previously saved backup in the left side pane, and then selectively restore whichever database you want to the device, or can you just restore all databases and achieve the same thing?

Basically, I thought the upgrade process would save everything and restore it just like I had it after the upgrade. It appears this is not the case.

Ive never had problems with backups being restored.
My profile settings have always been correct after an upgrade.

Welcome to the forums.

Profiles should have copied over fine. You can do an advanced restore of your profile settings. However, QuickLaunch is a 3rd party application and its settings will not copy over. It's the same for most 3rd party applications after OS upgrades.

Let me give an example.

I had changed the notification for SMS Text in the Normal profile to "Vibrate".
After the upgrade it is set back to "Tone". Does the upgrade lose this setting?

Thanks...
