My Bold 9000 (Carrier O2 - uk) no longer automatically lights up when I pull it out of it's leather pocket. Its not the end of the world but im not sure how I have switched this off and really want it back on to check for messages etc. more easily during lectures and at work etc. Any help much appreciated..................

try a battery pull

No luck with the battery pull, have tried a few times but nothing doing there. The screen fades down normally going into the case but doesnt light up coming out of it.

Did you perform a software update recently?

No I dont think I have, software is version 4.6, if I have updated it, its accidently. I'm also guessing there is a newer software version I should've downloaded but I've not had time recently, I'm also abroad currently so can't use the internet on the BB to do an update.

Go to options > screen/keyboard; see what you can do from there, you might have accidentally changed something.

Nothing doing in there, all settings are normal and I've tried changing them but it still isnt doing it. Autobacklight adjust is off but I always have it off as I like the screen to be bright all the time. But that has never effected it before anyway.

When you take it out of the leather pocket, is the screen still dim when you press a button or does the screen become bright again when you press a button

Yeah I know I can do that and its not the end of the world pressing a button! Its just that it used to do it automatically and like to have that back!

Maybe its a problem with the pocket because there is a magnet that causes the bold to know when it is out of the pocket. Maybe the magnet got messed up or something. Try a different pocket just to see.

I'll see if i get get a different pocket off a friend, cheers for the suggestion! It does dim down going into the pocket but just not coming back out.

Its possible therefore that it dims as it would when not in a holster, and the magnet has failed, therefore not putting the device into sleep, so when you pull it out, its as though you've just picked up the phone from your desk and you need to press a button to get it to light up.

Ah yeah good point hadnt thought about it like that, will get the magnet checked out. Cheers for the help!
