Am looking for something useful besides a clock when my BB is plugged-in...my car has a clock, why do I need an extra? I'd like to find another app that works when my BB is cabled that I can use in my car...a compass perhaps, or traffic info, etc.

Anything out there?

Would like to access with a minimum of clicks, just plug and go. I would use this more than 'bedside mode' as I'm in and out of the car a lot, and need to take my phone out to have on my person.

In the car, it's in a cradle for longer drives.

you could just disable bedside mode.
