Welcome to the forums.

Not working isn't very detailed. It doesn't power on? Do you get a red LED at the top? What happens?

What does the light do? is it solid, does it flash 4 times? Is there a pattern?

If you connect your device to your PC, does it recognize it?

You must not be typing something correct.

When you open command prompt, type in the following exactly how it shows:

cd C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader

Then follow the rest of the steps in the link.

After writing
cd C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader

Do I have to do this too ?
2a)

From C:\ prompt type:

cd Program Files <hit enter>
cd Common Files <hit enter>
cd Research In Motion <hit enter>
cd AppLoader <hit enter>

No, you should be in the correct directory at that point.

Hmm.

First download this OS and follow these steps:
OS: 9000 Bold 4.6.0.517/4.6.0.297 (ATT Official Release)

Follow step 1 and 2. After step 2, try the steps above.

okay I did everything to the part which says

Installation
1. The Application Loader Wizard window will open

2. Click on Next

3. You will get a drop down list with the COM ports and one USB port entry

4. Select the one which says USB:UNKNOWN

If you do not see USB:UNKNOWN or USB:BBPIN, then follow instructions listed in a1-a5:
a1) Disconnect the device from the PC.

a2) Keep the Application Loader Wizard window open

a3) Remove the battery and put it back

a4) While the red led is on, reconnect the device to the PC. The led will only stay on for a few seconds

a5) When USB:UNKNOWN appears in the drop down list, you need to immediately select Next

The drop down list is empty and I cant activate the check box next to it ! so what to do now ?
