Software For BlackBerry® Bold (TM) 9000 smartphone

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.6.0.518 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.6.0.518
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.6.0.303
* Software Platform: 4.0.0.248
* File name: 9000M_PBr4.6.0_rel518_PL4.0.0.248_A4.6.0.303_MobiT el_Bulgaria.exe
* File size: 96.81MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...30A8394B7218EF

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the AppLoader says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

Very nice update, however the GMAIL App no longer works. Tried reinstalling, still no go.

That is a must for me unfortunately, so I guess I will need to go back to 301 .

Since this update is out and bbm 5 has come out, does that mean we are coming closer to os 5.0?

as BIS 2.8 is out and done and half the new features require OS 5, then yes, it should be soon.

Also available from Vodafone DE (which I think is Germany)

[url=http://www.vodafone.de/hilfe-support/blackberry/133455_154633.html]

With T-Mobile and Vodafone both supporting it, you would think it must be fairly solid.

Thanks to Bolin on the .301 thread for the link.

I have a Bold running 266 - it's fine apart from the memory leaking which seems to have got much worse with BBM 5. This handset is 'off data plan' at the moment (cos I'm trying a Curve 8900 on my data plan) but it has retained the BB Hotspot Browser, maps etc etc and I'm quite happy with it (the only thing that I can't get to work with wifi is the Gmail app).
So, my question to the experts is this: if I do an OS upgrade, will I risk losing the Hotspot browser etc since I can't re-send service books (and, no I can't whack the Curve SIM into it temp as I will lose my intro deal benefits that came with the 8900).
Appreciate your advice....

Anyone notice much of a difference between this and 301? I think I might wait for the next release unless if there's some benefits to this.

Or perhaps I'll be bored this afternoon and install it anyway :D

How is the battery life?

When I tried 301, I noticed calls made my battery just drain so fast, but going back to 282 everything is fine again.

I don't use any apps that would be constantly be connecting to a network, and I have wireless and bluetooth turned off.

tmac, I believe not, you'll need a release with the words "EastAsian" in the file name.

I don't recall seeing THIS OS release with a EastAsian component, but I know there is EastAsian in this download for the Bold here:

Not sure if it's recommended or not but in instances like these, I replace the older .cod files with the newer files for the updated apps and basically end up with my own build. So I've got the Latest OS: 9000 4.6.0.518/4.6.0.303 with the latest builds of BBM 5, VVM, etc...

Unhappy Blackberry Messenger v5 upgrade followed by no icon? - 10-16-2009, 01:16 PM

I ran the update to 4.6.0.518 without issue but I quickly got told to update my Messenger app, after it finished it says I have Blackberry Messenger 5.0.0.33 but I have no icon for messenger! Is there some standard way to get the icon back or do I need to do a full reload of some earlier platform?

I've not been paying attention lately, so have to ask. Am I interpreting these posts correctly to indicate that this new version (and maybe other past/recent ones) now include blackberry messenger 5.0?

I've noticed that whenever I take a picture, and try to send it to someone it always asks to Close or Switch applications before it actually sends.

Has anyone noticed this?

Default Os multilanguage - 10-21-2009, 05:55 AM

Hi everybody,

I am thinking about buying a BB Bold 9000 while I'm in San Diego but since I will bring it back with me to Denmark at the end of December, I would like to change the BB into a "Danish" version with input and preferably phone language as well.

Can this be done with this upgrade ??

Thanks in advance
Bo

Upgraded to .303 from .301 using DM 4.7 (instead of DM 4.6 which I had used previously). Seems to work well. Actually started out with more memory than I seem to recall with .301. However, after use for a day or so drops down to 20 mb. After new install of OS was 33mb. After use, even on battery pull, never gets above 30mb. I recall from a post many months back that you never get as much free memory than immediately after installing an new OS.
Was in the US the previous 5 days on ATT. Seems to work well on both ATT and Rogers.
Did not use .301 long enough to make a valid comparison.
It may be my imagination, but both .301 and .303 may pull and lock in 3g a little better than previous OSs.
Biggest plus is in using DM 4.7, I did not have to do anything special to get documents to go premium to work. (However I see they now have version 2 which they want me to pay another $30 for an upgrade!)

Hey,

Im on .282 anyone found any benefits to using this o/s?

On .282 i find generally its ok, However i only get about 8-10 hours on charge on general use, and i notice it crashes a fair bit and even when i pull it, it takes about 5-10 minutes to reboot.

Wirelessly posted (8100 Pearl)

Use BBSAK once you connect your bb to the pc. On their forums there is a thread with a video explaning how to upgrade os in a secure way.

And to connect the bb to the pc, use google to find a guide for the boot loot. Most of them tell you how to let your computer sync and so connect to a dead bb.

I see you have already updated your girlfriend's Bold now to .303. I would think that if you are on ATT and wanted VVM, you would go with 17/4.6.0.297, otherwise go with .303. I have been on .303 for a week or so and found it to be as good as any, if not better. With at least two European networks having tested and accepted it, it should be pretty stable.
