Default Voice dialling

Please Login to Remove!

I am trying to find how to allocate voice dialling to certain names on my B-Bold/9000. Please advise how to do this?

Cheers.

you dont.
you activate the voice dialling program.
you say "call home" and it goes
Did you say Call...
1.home
2.work

you can say home again
or type 1
and it will call.

I am trying to find a way how the Bold will recognise names. My other phone allows to add specific voice commands to dial contacts. It seems the Bold does not have this facility. Please confirm.

My B-Bold doesn't seem to recognise/select any names from my contacts list. I have also asked three other people to try my phone to see if their voice is 'recognised' by the phone.

It seems that I may be missing something obvious if this is an advanced recognition system, or it may just not be up to scratch as my HTC phone.

Any further advice on how to resolve this?

Cheers.

Default Just not up to scratch

I have the same problem with my Bold and my previous Curve. The voice recognition system that BBerry went with in my opinion is terrible. Again this is just my opinion based on terrible results on two different phones, using the telephone mic and two different bluetooth headsets, Motorola and Plantronics.

I speak as clearly as possible and the voice that comes back is barely understandable when it offers possible suggestions and very very rarely actually comes up with the name of the person I asked the phone to dial.

My old Nokia analog phone never missed a beat with its voice recognition. So this is very disturbing to me. I live in Los Angeles and it is the law here to use handsfree or wireless headsets when driving, you know, the perfect time to use voice dialing, and this little quirk on the part of BlackBerry's phones is a big disappointment. I really like my phone but this one aspect of it is enough to make me want to switch to another smart phone. If I hadn't heard such bad things about the Pre so far I would consider jumping back to Palm. And since my company doesn't support the iPhone I am kind of stuck.

Perhaps I'm lucky with the sound or tone of my voice but I spend a lot of time driving and so use the voice dialing function a lot via Bluetooth and very seldom have any problems.

The only other thing I would add to the above information is that the voice dialing app also understands the words "yes" and "no" so if for instance you say "call home" and it says "did you say call Tony" you can just say no and it will go to the next entry that it thinks could be right. If of course the first option it gives is correct you can just say yes and it will dial the number.
