Default Yahoo mail on BB OK I've had enough - 10-12-2009, 08:54 PM

and I screwed up and actually loaded yahoo mail into my Bold.
The alerts are getting on my nerves. How do I uninstall or delete my account and free up the BB messenger?

I'm working 75 hours a week and the constant vibrating while working and red alerts is now beyond a mere nuisance. I'll go back to checking my mail the old fashioned way using the google app.

I tried the options list and saw no delete, turn off the vibrate or anything that says I can get rid of it all..........

I'm at the point of wiping the phone to get rid of the annoyance, so guess you all can tell I'm pretty PO'd especially with no let up on my hours for another three weeks I can't put up with this.

SO thanks in advance for the help folks......

C-man.....

Or go to the email setup bookmark in your bb browser to delete the email you want gone...

If I am not mistaken it is now part of your service books. You can delete that service on your phone but it would come back at the next push. You need to delete that email account from your service account. You didn't say who your carrier was so do a search for "carrier service books". That should get you there.

ERm Blackberry Messenger and Yahoo Mail via BIS are 2 totally different things.
You dont want it to vibrate when you get a email and notify with the LED?
Profiles - advanced - highlight the one to change
menu - edit
scroll to Messages [YOUR EMAIL]
click
change to NONE at the top
and change Repeat Notification to NONE.

done.

Seems like the install got into both so I want the whole thing cleaned up. I deleted the service books and the red light and vib. did stop but still get messages when I get yahoo mail.

I went to profiles and there was the normal ones for ringtones but nothing there about BB Messenger.

SO after looking into this and reading real slow to make sure I got it...nope my menu just goes to advance show othing but the one menu about using active profiles...sigh thanks but this is a dead end....

this is a little confusing
a)Are you trying to remove a yahoo email account from pushing to your blackberry(the yahoo one)
b)trying to remove disable/uninstall yahoo messenger (im client)
c)removing blackberrymessenger (instant messaging to only other bbs)
d)everything still as is...but without the vibrating/led notificaiton alerts?

Love the 9000!! It's everything I wanted (minus enough ON BOARD memory)!!

Yes, you are correct and most likely it's because I'm confused at all the options.

You see I clicked on the Yahoo mobile icon on m BB and thought OK this should be easier to get my e-mail. but then I started to get my mail on the BB messenger and also on icon that says messages.

I deleted some service books that I thought may be related and the red light and vib notification did stop but the messages still get through.

So now I'm at the point where I'm just interested in wiping the phone clean. I run Vista Ultimate. I did learn that by using the Goggle App that I can access my yahoo mail and once signed in never have to re-enter user name and password like when I used Opera or MediaNet.

So that'll work for me better then having to manually delete a lot of mail in the messenger.

Appreciate all the help and I'm sorry for the confusion it's hard to help out when the problem is not well stated so my apologies for that. Wish I had really paid attention more closely as to what I was downloading and installing...lol....school grad. of hard knocks.

So it's off to searching for the wipe clean steps for the Bold hope it's not to techi-oriented.

Thanks folks you all have a great weekend.

C-man....

You CANNOT be getting EMAIL on blackberry MESSENGER. Blackberry messenger is an IM program.

Do you mean that you are getting mail in the MESSAGES icon, and in a yahoo icon?

Back to the profiles problem.
So you click profiles.
you have a list of NORMAL, LOUD etc.
There is the ADVANCED option.
Once you click this, It takes you to a screen where you are supposed to again see a list of: NORMAL, LOUD etc.
Is it here that there is no list?
You then highlight NORMAL (for example) click menu - EDIT
Then there is a list of things you can change.
PHONE, MESSAGES [email address], SMS etc.
you click on whichever one you want, and your presented with the ability to change ringtones etc.

I've tried to read this thread carefully... and feel quiet confused as to what the issue is.

Is it that mails are "noisy", then it's an easy fix with the Profiles as already suggested somewhere in the thread.

Is it that you want to delete this account? You should do so from the BIS accounts set up as provided by your provider.

Lastly, I am lost as to the link (or non) between your Yahoo mail and BBM.

Unless this is resolved, please clarify which issue it is that you're facing.

Good luck

Is it that you want to delete this account? You should do so from the BIS accounts set up as provided by your provider. The account is my Yahoo e-mail account not any other. and after using the general settings to wipe the phone clean it still gets the e-mails...lol...

Lastly, I am lost as to the link (or non) between your Yahoo mail and BBM.Yeah that's why I apologiezed for not being better versed in which is which and probably better off closing this thread I sure did notmean to create so much confusion and do not hitnk I cna ever get it back on track......!

Unless this is resolved, please clarify which issue it is that you're facing.

Good luck
Thanks....

1. ok
2. wiping the handheld does NOT get rid of email accounts.
email accounts are setup on BIS, you need to delete the yahoo account on the BIS to stop it pushing emails to your device.

Yeah yeah yeah GOT IT...Thanks......lol...whew thanks for your patience......lol...after a week of all this though the deletion process is tiresome and all I get are links no messages so after our outage I'll read up on how to use the jl_cmdr and wipe phone clean and start over with factory reset and then add my apps again. A bit lengthy process no doubt but I've learned my lesson, read first think twice before installing anything......guess this is a closed case....thanks again....the help is appreciated......and I learned more about the phone features......

Did you read my above post?
wiping the handheld will not stop yahoo emails from being pushed to our device.

I don't see why you need to wipe the handheld.
your problem is easily solved without going through that lengthy process.

Chinookman,

To stop your Yahoo mail completely, go here:
https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=mycingular

This is the page where you set up emails to push to your BB. Log in, and where it says Email Accounts, click on the trash can/delete icon next to Yahoo, and problem solved: no more Yahoo pushed to your BB.

You can also do this from your BB, just not the way it appears that you're trying to. We can walk you through that (and someone did above, actually). Let us know.

ANY mail from BIS will show in TWO places (and NOT EVER in BB Messenger as mentioned): Messages (the catch-all Inbox for all messages delivered to the BB), and the INDIVIDUAL email account icon (Yahoo in your case). WHEN/IF you log in to your BIS page as per above, the YAHOO mail icon will disappear. You will still have the Messages icon, you just won't get any more email from Yahoo.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO WIPE YOUR DEVICE! And as mentioned, even if you do, IT WILL NOT STOP Yahoo mail from being pushed UNLESS you follow the steps above, and mentioned by SEVERAL others.

This will ALSO alleviate your Profiles issue with Yahoo (if I understood what you're trying to accomplish there correctly: stop the phone from notifying you of Yahoo mail arrivals).

Ya, I'm yelling. We're actually trying help you. Spend a minute to help us help you. Flame me if you want, I just won't answer. You're in the right place to solve all your problems, if you let us.

Steve

OK as mentioned before thanks for the patience and I'll re-read everything a bit slower again.......no need in anyone getting flustered........Thanks folks...

on edit OK folks thanks this time I really go have it.....you see there are more functions here then I am aware of and don't live on the phone so what you folks take for granted that I should know was not the case. Anyway a happy ending and case closed.....nomore e-mails pushed to the phone and I learned another feature the hard way......Thanks......
